We are extremely pleased to present a wonderful expansion to our Retreat from Russia Series and by far our largest "Vignette", the Burning of the Eagles! On the late afternoon of November 28th, facing the grim reality of the situation in which the tattered remnant of the Grand Armee found itself, Napoleon ordered the burning of his papers and many of the army's standards to prevent them from falling into enemy hands. Now, it is very much debated whether or not the standards were actually burned, however, the subject makes for such a wonderful vignette that we felt it was a must add vignette to add to the series. The Berezina is a battle in particular where Napoleon's old energy returned to him and the escape of the French Army from a seemingly impossibly situation was nothing short of miraculous. We have presented the scene here as inspired by several paintings of the same topic, most notably that by Wojciech Kossak (1857-1942). This is truly a wonderful set of figures covering an extremely solemn occasion for the once proud French Grand Armee. We sincerely hope you enjoy them.

Absolutely stunning, wow, beautiful work, finding their way to my collection as soon as possible

There is a couple of figures I am interested in from these releases, but I am a bit disappointed in the scene or dio. The quality looks great, but the scene does not 'do it for me'. Not the way I expected this range to go and for a disappointing way forward.

Wow, these figures look fantastic! I would love to build a bleakly beautiful diorama around them....ice and snow...frozen stream...dead trees.

I think these figures look great and I may purchase a couple. I particularly like 565 and 567 and you could juxtaposition the latter with the early figure, 30a, a sort of before and after the Retreat.

However, I'm not sure I understand your comment. Can't you use them any way you wish?

Definitely a comment that is hard to decipher. Looks stunning to me.

Hi

Firstly, I think the figures are great, my diorama for this series is a group of French soldiers tramping through the snow, I have all the current releases [except the sledges, too expensive for me when compared what else I can but for the same money from TG, JJ and K & C, but they are great] and want to continue adding to these figures, increasing my diorama. I am not bothered about adding some attacking Russians, but to build up a line of retreating soldiers. Therefore, the move towards a more ceremonial look to the figures does not fit, but I supposes I could use them in a diorama with the burning of the eagles and the troops march past! However I think the prices for some will put a stop to buying as often as I would have, because firstly there are other series and manufacturers I collect which are for me more value, not just financially, as they are in the main series I collect, so would add to the ranges I am interested in, such as,
T Gunn – Romans, WW2, WW1
K & C – WW2 [Battle of the Bulge, plus all European and the Med theatres. The Nap, TRW, MK series.
J Jenkins – WW1 and Romans enemies.

Secondly the new ones are a bit more expensive, just to let you know the prices in the UK are the same in £ sterling that it is $ Dollar price, at the current exchange rate the costs are over 30% higher in the UK than the US. I do not want this to turn into a discussion about pricing, because for me the prices are what they are and people must run businesses and make money and I believe those in the countries such as China, Vietnam, etc deserve a good standard of living and we should pay, but the prices are above my salary increases. Finally, we are living in what I think is a golden age for the TS market, there are some great manufacturers out there, making some great sets and figures in a diverse range of era and conflicts. Which opens us to a lot more choice and I am grateful for that.

hard to decipher but then you used the word 'stunning' - why?

I did not understand your comment that implied you did not like them, especially since the drama, realism and attention to detail looks impressive to me.

Perhaps if you'd said that initially, we would have understood your concerns as cost is a factor we can all understand.

In addition, the British price is a reflection of the exchange rate. And that one has worsened substantially since BREXIT. At least, you get a full figure, not like in groceries where exporters into the UK just put less product into the packaging to hold price.

Matt,

Another great release, i really like those new sets.
Very well done, great details, pose are superb.

Cant wait to order these to add to my colection.

Serge :)

No your are wrong, it is nothing to do with the exchange rate, FL in the UK are charging the same price in £1 as they do in $1, so there is no exchange involved, it does not matter what the exchange is, plus this has been the situation for as long as I can remember, way before BREXIT.

Well done indeed ! You have captured / manipulated, images to make them look quite remarkable. Can't wait until you have the actual figures to do your wonderful "Magic" with !
