We are pleased to present the first of the Russian Infantry for our Retreat from Russia figure series. The Russian Infantry of the period were renowned for their steadfastness and stoicism under fire. They were well acclimated to the hardships of military campaigns from the terrible cold weather to the scantiest of rations. However, in defending their homeland during the 1812 French invasion of Russia, these characteristics reached new heights and the Russians soldiers were able to outlast their French adversaries even though they had to deal with the same extremes and hardships of a winter campaign in Russia. We have presented them here advancing for setup in close order formation as shown. As part of the Retreat Series, these figures are painted to a very high level and make an excellent addition allowing for a broader range of dioramas such as the Battle of Berezina to begin to take shape.

OK firstly I love them (different, sharp, accurate) that’s a given, bravo Matt.

However where are the Prussians or knights? More than disappointed about the Prussians but heh, I suppose we might see them by Christmas (well they were late for Waterloo)......

One negative comment about the Russians however, $220 for both flag bearers and they’re the same figure...I’ll let you draw your own conclusions. That’s near $300 for us UK customers if we buy them from a UK distributor. On a positive note love the Officer, he’ll definitely be mine.

What a long-awaited update!
I am very glad that a dramatic Retreat from Russia serie got representatives from regular units, not just unhappy fugitives and pursuing them.
Can we expect their rivals from one the regular parts of the Great Army? may be Young Guard or one of the parts of Victor's corps or Corbineau's cavalry?

In any case, thank you very much for this wonderful Russian Infantry in winter uniform(although I agree that the same standard-bearers are excessively expensive this Vladimirsky Musketeers are really has amazing quality and must have for my collection!

Retreat from Russia is pretty much the only part of Napoleon’s Europe that I haven’t bought. I think this release will push me over the edge. The idea of a Berezina diorama is very appealing.

Even though I have never collected Napoleonic figures there is something about the Retreat from Russia figures that really grab my attention.Manes Marzano had some a few years back that was quite good also but nearly as big in scope as FL.

I agree, the MM Russian Retreat figures have quite an allure. They are very artistic and remind me of classic oil paintings. I have one set of these figures. I would like to get the others that I missed.

The Russians were notorious for using identical twins as standard bearers. ^&grin. Also not sure why the Drummers hand playing position has him playing in the air and doesn't line up with the drum at all.

Other then those two blips they are incredibly well done. Truly beautiful figures, First Legion just continue to improve. :salute:::salute::
