Napoleon Returns ! (1 Viewer)

Nice shots, Ron! Looks like you and your lovely wife had a wonderful trip! I haven't been to Paris for 9 years . . . I really can't wait until my little ones are old enough for air travel!

Thanks Louis

We did had a great time - I love mixing work and pleasure together - it makes it nice to have your love one with you on those long business trips and share the special places - isnt that what marriage is all about ?

Wow - I am sounding like Peter in Church

Thanks again for the photos Ron. Also, Mrs. Phillips is quite a lovely woman my friend. I'm starting to think Paris may be a great destination for Mrs. Gray and I to visit some day soon. Last year it was Toronto, with a luxurious corner suite at the Westin Harbour Castle, and had such a great time will likely repeat this Fall. Lots happening between now and then though.

Great pics Ron, are you really allowed to smoke at French cafes

OZ - The French smoke everywhere except indoors - I can't believe that smoking ban didn't cause a REBELLION !

Interesting thing - no cigar shops in Paris ? They have TABAC authorized stores that sell mostly cigarettes - Cigars are found more near Big Hotels.

Nothing like Munich though - no private shops that I found.

Guys - I am going to jump around now with the pics.

Each day I was working - Kiri and I didn't go out and snap pics - so I am going to give you the location of the photos now.

This next series is the French Military Museum in the INVALDES which is next to the Dome of NAPOLEON's TOMB ! :D

So for you WWII nuts here are some flags from Paris !

The first pic is the Allied Signal Flag - this was raised over City Hall to let everyone know the liberation of Paris had begun !

Really great pics Ron. Really enjoyed the ones of the Arc. I remember that climb well and they have a great little museum.

I'm ashamed to say that I never went to the French Museum, an omission I will need to correct the next time.

Brad

For WWII guys (I guess I am one too  ) - This is a must see in Paris !

The place is huge and my small number of photos do not do it justice. They have everything - and I mean everything ! American, Russian, British, Commonwealth, Africa - just about everyone involved in WWII has artifacts in this place - it is really good worth the price of admission.

The only unfortunate thing - if you guys can believe this ?

THE FRENCH NAPOLEONIC WAR SECTION WAS CLOSED FOR RENOVATION!

UGH !!

They probably heard you were coming ... and couldn't bear to let you find out he didn't win the war

Looks like the both of you really enjoyed the visit . Must try to visit too ... probably after seeing London first. Thanks for sharing.

Ron, is there a WWI section at the museum?

Paulo

I am sure there is - I just never made it to that side of the museum. This place is huge ! Many, many rooms and it is in a large palace complex.

There is a large courtyard where there are rows and rows of Cannons from all periods - I think I took some pictures of these I will check and post. After you take over 400 pictures - its hard to remember them all !

HERE ARE PICTURES OF BOOM - BOOMS !!

AT INVALDES !

Hi Ron,
thanks for the fine, interesting photo series of your trip. A real pleasure to watch it.
Sorry to hear that the Napoleonic War section of the museum was closed.
Other than that it seems your lady and you had a great time.

Thanks Kogu

Worked very hard through the week - but, was all worth it in the end.

I have started another thread for NAPOLEON'S TOMB - get pics check it out !
