Napoleonic Release - Your guess is as good as mine (5 Viewers)

I personally collect the Napoleonics so was sad to see the Black Watch retirements.
The Black Watch figures were by far the most popular of the Allied Napoleonics (the others being 71st Highlanders, Kings German Legion, Coldstream Guards and the more recent Russians).
K&C would know how well they sold but there was also the problem that they were still at the older pricing. A Black Watch figure was US$24 when the recent French Guard were US$32.
However lets remember Andy is a cany Scot and based on this I am hoping he only retired the Black Watch because he has a suitable replacement in mind. So on that basis I am guessing / hoping the Gordon Highlanders might be on the drawing board. If they are not then lets start voicing our support now ! Could even do one hanging off the side of a charging Scots Grey as shown in a well known painting.
Any other thoughts for next Napoleonic allies ?

Hmmm, very good question. As a fellow Napoleonic collector, it's quite hard to predict what could potentially be taking the place of the Black Watch - I'm quite happy simply to have gotten the bulk of the range before it was too late.

Prussians for the 1813-15 period would be very interesting, and welcomed I'm sure by enthusiasts of that era - however, as had already been mentioned, introducing another Allied nation aside from British troops might depend quite a lot on how well the Russian figures have been doing. I really don't know whether that sub-range has been a success or not, so it's difficult to comment.

For something a little bit more "orthodox", but notably absent from current K&C Napoleonic offerings - perhaps the 95th Rifles? It's been a while since these have been covered by Andy (in fact I'm not even certain if they've ever been done by the company in a matte finish), and they are an eternally popular subject for those interested in the era, so that could stand to their favour. Added to that is the fact that unlike most British line infantry regiments, the basic uniform and equipment for the 95th remained unchanged from the early Peninsular battles in 1808/09 right up to the Waterloo campaign, so they're quite versatile.

To play devil's advocate though, it hasn't been a million years since the retirement of the very similar KGL figures, and the fact that First Legion seem to plan on releasing 95th figures in the very near future could mean that K&C might wish to avoid any calls of plagarism or unoriginality.

Taking into account what Andy has said about Prussians and their boring uniforms I would imagine that further releases of Russians would be more likely. Perhaps some mounted figures to go with the infantry and artillery already available.

of my Napoleonics collection with the Cold Streams Guards Mounted Officer.

Tradition did this in gloss format and it is one of my favorite sets from them. That said it wouldn't stop me from buying it in matte from K&C if Andy does decide to produce them! I would also like to see additional British Cavalry.

As being from the Netherlands I would like to see some Dutch Imperial Guards as a conrast to the French Imperial Guard. Futhermore Dutch lancers instead of Polish, just to ad some colour?
On the other hand some Belgian or Dutch regiments. Who also fought at Waterloo. I think that wil not happen but it would be very nice.

Personally I regret seeing the Black Watch go. Love them Scotts. Hope there will be a new set in the future.

Altough some English rifles will be okay. But a full arillery train (Brtitsh or French) would be very desirable.

I looking out for all "new" NA figures.

Yes! Good choice, either the 92nd or the 79th Cameron Highlanders.

As to cavalry, I think the King's Dragoon Guards would make nice sets.

While I dont collect Napoleonics (I know a number of those who do) I would like to see the KGL and the Polish Lancers. Maybe with enough support on boards throughout the world yall will get your wishes. My own request is for more Civil War but thats for a different board...

Not to long ago - I spoke with Andy about the future of Napoleonics ....

He said that he had several more ideas to bring out in the Russian Range before he planned to start another Napoleonic Country range. I would guess that Cossacks would be high on the list - as well as other Mounted Figures. We can keep our fingers crossed for some dead or wounded figures

On the subject of Polish Lancers - the KCS figures was a tremendous success and would be a big hit if made - IMHO.

I would love to see either of these develop in the post-Black Watch era. The Gordon's could be done in more of an attacking mode, perhaps playing off the famed charge amongst the Scots Greys incident. I would almost prefer the 79th, though, since they are not as often done in TS outside of bands these days.....not that there is anything wrong with bands mind you. The Cameron Tartan is a bit more colorful as well, compared with the variations on BW tartan worn by most other Highland Regiments. That list of K&C British Napoleonic options gets awfully short once you delete all of the BW figures.........

Guys , regarding napoleonic future releases , i think it's time to return , or better to take on the Peninsular Epic!With those ragged british soldier , and particular regiments as the 27th Inniskilling , or the 28th with the Sphynx badge on the back of the shako..if you think at the possibility of poses a war like the Peninsular offers..and the French too..with brown pants ,white covers for their shako and a ragged appearence similar to the british..it's time to break the stereotype of the Napoleonic Soldier always clean and in order many of us bear in mind!
