Napoleonic Trivia #87 (4 Viewers)

Great guess. Lannes certainly qualifies, although Jerome Soules is hardly a household name. Still commanders of a branch of the Guard deserve some recognition I suppose.

It's easy to find when you live in the country.

"Chapeau bas !" for your knowledge about this era and the french Marshals and generals.

Lannes and Subervie

Lannes and Banel

Lannes and Laterrade

The problem is that wikipedia gives Lannes and Soulés, maybe a mistake. Can you give your information : book ?

Lannes and Subervie is the answer I have. Please see relevant paragraph on http://www.napoleon-series.org/research/commanders/c_colbert.html Now Lectoure is a tiny city (~4000 people) and given the number of famous Napoleonic generals, etc. born in this city, I would think that a few other would qualify as being born close to each other :wink2: Well done!

Thanks Grognard,

It wasn't easy with so many names. Unfortunately, the postman did not write his memoirs:D. The birthplace of Soules is a ten meter that Lannes. For those of Soubise, I don't know. You're right, Lectour is a small town. Occasionally, I'll take a walk on the spot to check. :D
