Great guess. Lannes certainly qualifies, although Jerome Soules is hardly a household name. Still commanders of a branch of the Guard deserve some recognition I suppose.Hi

Dupin and Soulès
Which one was very famous? I have never heard of Dupin?
Valmy the right one was the other part of the answer (that is Lannes) so you still need to find the other one since none of the ones you suggest are the answer I have :wink2:Dupin and Soulès

Nope...Lannes and Lagrange ?
Nope...
It's easy to find when you live in the country.
"Chapeau bas !" for your knowledge about this era and the french Marshals and generals.

Lannes and Subervie is the answer I have. Please see relevant paragraph on http://www.napoleon-series.org/research/commanders/c_colbert.html Now Lectoure is a tiny city (~4000 people) and given the number of famous Napoleonic generals, etc. born in this city, I would think that a few other would qualify as being born close to each other :wink2: Well done!Lannes and Subervie
Lannes and Banel
Lannes and Laterrade
The problem is that wikipedia gives Lannes and Soulés, maybe a mistake. Can you give your information : book ?

You are welcome! Here is a picture of Lannes' birth place btw: http://fr.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fichier:Lectoure-maisonLannes.jpgThanks Grognard,
It wasn't easy with so many names. Unfortunately, the postman did not write his memoirs. The birthplace of Soules is a ten meter that Lannes. For those of Soubise, I don't know. You're right, Lectour is a small town. Occasionally, I'll take a walk on the spot to check.
