Well it has been awhile since I have posted. Work has just been keeping me too busy. I also noticed that it has been awhile since we have had a Napoleonic Wish List posting. So I decided to get one going again. So come on and post the soldiers you would like to see King and County come out with to support the French Empire against the foes of liberty. Of course if you are on the wrong side (like Wellington) well then you can wish for more targets for the Empire’s brave troops.
First of all I fully realize that Andy is only going to do soldiers that make good business sense. Also the lead time if Andy does take any of our suggestions to heart is a year at least. Still if you never voice your opinion how are those brave troops you always wanted ever going to come about? With this is mine list and I would like to start my list with a nod to Wellington who over the last few months has had some great ideas that I wish Andy would do.
First up is the field Hospital for both the French and the British. Wellington suggested this awhile ago and I still think it would be a great idea. You could have an ambulance, soldiers helping a comrade to the hospital, and doctors working on some wounded. Put this all in the farm house accessory and you have a great diorama.
Second is the Old Guard Dress Band. With the Old Guard and the new Chasseurs you have the start of great parade display. But what good is a parade without a band. The Old Guard had one and it looked great. I know this has been done before by Frontline (and well done too) but we need one for King and Country.
Third is the Irish Legion. What is not to like. Cool uniforms, a great flag and ticked off Irish out to win their freedom. A great unit that also looked good. I know as time went on there were less and less Irish in the unit but boy their fighting record was great.
Fourth is some line infantry for the 3rd French Regiment. We have their grenadiers and their voltigeurs but no regulars. Really to complete this regiment we need the rest of the crowd.
Fifth is the bane of the British on the Peninsular the Vistula Legion. There are so many battles were this unit fought overwhelming odds and came out ahead. Plus who can ever forget the cavalry charge at Albuera. Infantry and cavalry would most welcome.
Sixth I would like to see a Napoleonic version of the Fields of Battle release. There are so many battles during the time of Napoleon that you could never hope to cover them all, well maybe if I live long enough they will. Why not do a few soldiers of some of the secondary campaigns. A couple of examples would be to do some soldiers in Republic uniforms for the invasion of Egypt. Wellington had the great idea of some soldiers for the War of 1812. A small batch could be done to test the waters and show some battles that don’t always get the attention they deserve.
Well those are my thoughts. Take them for what they are worth and contribute your own ideas. One last quick idea is that some more wounded and dead soldiers would be helpful.
Some of you might notice that my ideas are nearly all French or French allied units. Well there is a reason that I chose Old Guard as my login name. If you do not like it post your own ideas but remember the Emperor will always win in the end.
Viva la Emperor
