Howdy Y'all,

Today, the 4th Saturday of July (July 23) is the National Day of the Cowboy and I thought it would be most fitting to post an image of K&C's Cattle Drive cowboys. I'd also like to tip my hat to Andy and the K&C Team for their incredible "Chuck Wagon Five". I've been following along the rear of the heard as the Cattle Drive made its way from Bent Forks, to Straight Knives, and has now reached Rusty Spoons. I think Gravy Boat may be their next stop before they make it across the border. ^&grin

Along the way, Andy has shared a number of facts about the history of American Cowboys, pioneers and true legends in the western US.

There's one "cowboy" that I'd especially like to mention. He always thought John Wayne was the "best actor ever" and standing over 6" tall with a build, walk, and nose very similar to Old Duke, that individual was my Dad who passed away last year. In his last couple of years, he began writing poetry with one particular poem titled, "The Cowboy". I shared the last verse as part of his eulogy:

Let’s drink to the cowboy,
he always gave his best.
Let’s drink to the cowboy
before he is laid to rest.

The cowboy is gone;
now he rides up in the sky.
On a clear and starry night,
you can see him as he rides slowly by.
Adios cowboy, goodbye my friend.

Andy; should you read this, you can put me down for one of those Rooster Cogburn figures as it will hold a special place.

This one is for my Dad, a "Cowboy in Spirit."

Rob, I also thank you for sharing, sorry for your loss, and a nice poem by your Father. My Father was also a Western fan, not so much Poetry, more Film and Songs. One of his Favourite Western Singers was Dan Seals, we included the following song by Dan Seals at his funeral service:

Cheers Matt

Great image Rob!
…And all the best too,
Andy.

Rob.....I am sorry for your loss. When our fathers pass away, there is always a void that will never be filled. Keeping their memories alive is the best tribute we can give them and rest assured your father is looking down on you with pride.

Mark
