Al and Chris,
What a delight for a LAX RAT:wink2:
like me to see this post on the forum. I haven't posted since the beginning of March, as I become overwhelmed with coaching from then through the fall each year with Middle School, Tournament season, volunteer PAL, and private group/individual lessons. I've been around game as a player and or coach for 50 years, and I can never get enough of it. It keeps me away from toy soldiers{eek3} for a stretch, but it also pays for them.
And yes the TERPS are coming in strong this year. It was especially rewarding for me to watch them in the local watering hole on saturday with my buddy Hutch Vanderschyut, Maryland goalie class of 69. And on the field, I saw 1 of 2 brothers, #36 LSM Jr.Jesse Bernhardt, who is the son of a personal friend of mine, Jim Bernhardt who coached and played with me in the late 70's, early 80's. Hutch and I were talking a lot during the game, and I didn't hear Jesse's brother #3 MIDDIE Sr. Jake mentioned, but I've seen him during the season. I think Coach Tillman was the right choice to take over from Dave Cottle, who was due for a change. He's really got them moving. Now it's on to John Danowski's Duke boys, who has a number of players I'm familiar with also. That should be some game. They spanked Colgate pretty good on Sunday, once they found their sticks. I thought it was great to see a team like Colgate in the mix. Nice to see some new blood in the playoffs.
I thought Notre Dame was exceptional as well. Very strong Defense, and a fast moving, patient offense.
If the DII final game is televised, Sunday 1pm, Dowling vs Limestone, give that a watch also. Tim Boyle, the Dowling coach, who played most recently on my men's team has that team charging. I'd like to see him take that title.
Well, gotta finish some work and get over to the middle school.
Good luck to the TERPS, and all the best.
Joe
