Need help with finding the manufacturers please! (1 Viewer)

Hi Al,

I think that the Lancers in the front of the photo are probably made by Paxton Sherif also, Looks like 17th Lancer in the White Tropical Helmets for the Zulu War and the ones next to them are 9th Lancers. Do you have any more information on this company?

Thanks

Dave

In general, the centre of gravity of mounted Camel Corps figures is higher than for mounted cavalry figures. I looked back at the picture in the first post and noted the camels have a pronounced "hump" and the troopers are pretty "high riding". This can explain why there are "lateral stabiliser wings" on the bases to prevent falling over. This design of base reminds me somewhat of plastic figures, but then this not applicable in this case.

That said, I am unable as yet to identify the manufacturer of this set of Camel Corps which appears to be in ? matte finish. These do not look like Trophy, Trophy Dragon Crest, Little Legion, Tradition, Regal and Frontline. The early K&C glossy Camel Corps were not made with bases.

Hi Dave. I don't really have any info on the company other than what I was told 20 or so years ago. The Union Jacks brand were supposedly the product of a one man operation, a retired British military officer. The brand went OOB when he retired from the TS business. I have a half dozen mounted grenadiers and 4-5 other infantry sets. I had several other sets at one time but traded them for other stuff. Most of what I have seen by Paxton-Sherif were early 18th century, with a lot of AWI, as well. The sets were all uniformly excellent in paint finish and charm. Would like to find more of them, some day. -- Al

The Mounted Confederates are the now defunct Ron Wall Miniatures.
