New 7 years War Cavalry (1 Viewer)

Excellent! Thanks for the tip, John! Those will definitely fit with the old Rose castings.

I'll have to check with Rich Dutkin and see if he'll have those in stock by the time of our show at the end of April.

Prost!

Gebhard--thanks for those photos and the tip about the museum, I didn't know that the Plassenburg housed that collection as well. I'm planning on going to Kulmbach this year, and I will definitely visit that collection, too!

PM inbound, too.

Prost!

Brad, John Eden has some Cavalry show, but as painted figures, be he also says they are available as casting.

He has both Horse Grenadiers and Dragoons, and here are some images.

John

I obtained a good few castings from John a few years back and he was helpfulness personified. He was able to supply the cavalry with separate bases that matched those of the infantry ie 2mm thick flat metal rather than these rather thick looking bases. He was also able to supply some Hinchcliffe artillery kits which are simply superb. Needless to say I haven’t finished painting them yet but it will keep me busy enough as and when I feel like dipping a brush

The cavalry horses are absolutely superb.

As for the infantry they do fit in well with the Tradition castings although the “Rose” are rather slimmer build than the slightly rotund redcoats from Tradition. When I bought the castings were also considerably less expensive than Tradition which are nearly £9 each today for a foot figure..unpainted

Yes, in the time since we last posted to this thread, John started using an eBay store pretty heavily. Since then, I've picked up a lot of castings from John, particularly civilians by Sanderson and others, some for my 18-century collection and some for my Imperial German collection. He also has a stash of Puchala kits and I've taken some of those off his hands. I still haven't gotten around to getting any of the Rose cavalry figures yet, though.

Prost!

Brad,

you sound just like me, I've also bout from John, both ROSE & Ulrich Puchala, and now getting around to painting them :)

I finished about a dozen Sanderson Victorian/Edwardian civilians, for my "Berlin 1910" collection. I've got another 6 or so on the bench. I'd picked up some previously, over the years, without knowing who made them. Seeing them in John's sales helped me identify them.

They've been copied by so many hobbyists, too, that there are some really bad examples out there, poorly cast, with soft detail. I have some in my stash, and I might just melt them down, since I can get nice new, crisp castings from John.

He's also helped me round out my display by adding civilian spectators to the parade. Now I've got ladies and gentlemen, and children, to go with the soldiers.

I just haven't taken pictures yet, but I'll get around to it.

Prost!
Brad
