New airfix releases 1/32nd scale ww2 (1 Viewer)

Hi

does anyone have a few photos to post of the collectors series or the
1/32nd single piece figures

Regards,
9thHussar

I will post some pics and will start a new thread for the pictures. Leadmen

Saw many of these figures on sale in local hobby shop back in 2008. There was also some English Civil War figures in the range which were also on sale.

Hi Trooper,

The ECW set comprises four figures, the musketeer, the pikeman and 2 mtd Royalist/Parliamentarian figures.

Hi

the re-issue sets of Airfix plastic 1/32nd WW2 soldiers will be sold for a box of figures for approx £5.00 GBP Sterling - the only thing is that I dont yet know how many will be in the box although I suspect about 14 - 20 figures

This is a very reasonable price which is fair and should encourage others into the various aspects of our hobby

Do you know when in 2009 they will be released? GBP 5.00 sounds excellent for 14 figures or so. Thanks for the info.

Hi joachim,

not sure when they will be on sale but soon hopefully. I am unsure how many figures will be in the box - maybe someone else will find out and post on here.

The man at Airfix left it open that other sets may follow in the future?

Good news. Sounds like the pricing is reasonable, even if it's the smaller box size of 14 figures. Hopefully the artwork will be good, maybe the pre 80's style, which should attract people's interest.

Just spotted this thread. I've still got mine in tins in the loft -I loved these and Deetail and Matchbox when i was a kid.
Every so often I dig them out and have a bit of a play trip down memory lane.
Even though I already have the original sets can see myself buying a set of each when they come out.

Mine are long gone, never thought I'd want them back later:(.

Likewise James. In the days before I had my wages paid directly in to the accounts of K&C, HB and Figarti, I used to collect boxed sets of Airfix 1/32.
With a few exceptions, managed to get pretty much most of the different box variations, for all the figure sets. There's still one or two I need to look out for though.....
It'll be good to add to the collection.

And while we're on the subject of Airfix and Matchbox figures, wouldn't it be cool if K&C were to release Commandoes, in the same style? Don't know if I mentioned that before. :D;)

Still hope for the soft waterloo series as a future release
Thanks for the info. I'll be waiting for those WW2 sets.

Spot on Simon - the Matchbox commandoes were an excellent set with a dingy, climbing ladder, grappling hook - how awesome would a K&C series be like that?
It could maybe go in the Fields of battle range which is probably due to move on from Dunkirk now.

Hi

I have been informed by Airfix that these boxes of 1/32nd soldiers will have 14 figures per box.

I have also seen a box art picture of the British Infantry set and it looks like the 1980's British with the SLR Rifle - Falklands War period etc...not the WW2 set

Odd choice, considering the rest of the releases.
Have you got any pics of the box art or links?

Cheers

There is an awesome website dedicated to the aforementioned known simply as Airfix 1:32 Figures.

They have all the original boxes and pics of all the figures. It is one of my favourite sites. Airfix make the most beautiful 54mm figures in the world. The memories that come flooding back nearly bring a tear to the eye of this old collector. :(

Check it out: http://www.airfix132.de/

Guys, I don't know where you have all been, but CTS have had a large selection of 1/32 Airfix available for years! THEY should be given credit for keeping Airfix alive and well for us serious collectors. No, they are not boxed, and I know that there is an element out there who collect the box art rather than the figures, but at least they kept the range and the name going!
No, they are not cheap (compared with the advertised retail price of the forthcoming sets) but, remember they have had to ship originally from France, and now from the U.K. to the U.S. and -in our case - back to us in the U.K. so that we can sell them. All 5 or 6 of the biggest U.S. Dealers carry these as well, and have done so for many years!

So how have you all missed them?

One point to consider - the forthcoming production is said to be in a "new paintable" plastic. The originals were in a form of polythene, whereas some of the more recent figures that we have received have been more like the plastic used in the construction kits. This makes the rather thin weapons even more likely to sustain damage than we are used to on the older figures.

Let's hope that they will remedy this by the time production starts!

I have been painting the CTS AIRFIX for a few years they are great i like the plastic.
Infact i would rather buy them then pic up some originals on EBAY (which are realy 30+ years old anyway.
Im not to sure about this "paintable plastic" IMEX are promoting the same thing but i think IMEX are using the worst type of plastic to paint.
and they are way to brittle .
I hope the CTS figs stay around for a while.

Steve welcome to the forum. When Steve comes across the pond he brings replicants and his own line of plastics.
