NEw Britains WWII Images (2 Viewers)

Well done Britains as a avid WW2 collector, i can see the quantum leap here, with this latest line up. Pleased i made the right decision to start collecting W. Britains two years ago. Look forward to owning these sets. The detailing looks great. My only worry is storage space and cash, hope the prices will be resonable.

Well done to the team:)

Noli--We won't know how they compare until the Britain's one is released. Until then we just have the pictures to go on just like you.
I'm happy to hear people are pleased with the new offerings and can't wait to get them in stock!

I don't want to turn this into the kind of debate Pat mentions but with 54 the size of the figure has nothing to do with the quality of the sculpting and I just don't see that kind of quality with these figures.

I haven't seen these WW2 figures yet. But the sculpting and detailing of the new Britains I've seen,Civil War & Redcoats, is of high quality. In fact, I think the sculpting of the faces on the Civil War figures is better than K&C.

I was only comparing the figures from two armored cars and the sculpting of the Britains figures just don't seem as good as the K & C figures from the same set. In any case, to your point, the K & C armored car is of a more recent vintage than its ACW figures so it's not really comparable, plus K & C wasn't in ACW too long. If you collect ACW, I suspect you won't have K & C in your collection.

That being said, what I saw so far of the Britain's new issues seems good. If I had the room, I would like to buy the World War I line (and I may purchase a few figures anyway).

I've seen the new German paras and kettenkrad in real life at a show and I have to say the splinter pattern on their smocks looked very accurate. More accurate than K&C's version but shhhh you didn't hear that from me. lol.

Hopefully the quality of the display copies will be matched by the retail version.

I'm sure it's from the same mould as the earlier M8 released which you have in stock? Would you be able to provide a side by side photo of these M8's?

Thanks

1/32 has been the dominant scale in toy soldiers for over 150 years and although the popularity of the scale has waxed and waned over time it always bounces back.

However the market is now large enough to allow a number of different scales to co-exist, and as I said before, collectors often buy a range of scales, but personally I haven't yet taken the plunge into 1/6 scale.

Re: New Britains WWII Images

I just gave a quick look to the two M8s as posted on the Treefrog website. Obviously a size comparison isn't possible from the photos, but I'll bet they are very close (if not the same).

Old version has all four crewmen visible, with the drivers poking out of opened hull hatches. Minimal stowage. Not radio aerials visible.

New version has the front hatches closed, new figures in the turret, an infantryman on the rear deck and some stowage on the aft end with an orange aircraft recognition panel showing. The vehicle in the photos has wire radio aerials.

Both armored cars have the extra ring-mount for the .50 cal MG, a modification common in ETO, but rare elsewhere.

So, so some nice differences. I like the drivers showing, but I also like the stowage and the new turret crew poses.

How does it look side by side with the KC M8? Smaller I suppose?

I don't have a Britains one to check in person, and my K&C is boxed up waiting for display space, however based on the Sherman tanks of each maker, the Britains should be smaller than the K&C but larger than most 1/32nd models (like FoV or 21C) I have the old Monogram M8, and the K&C is immense compared to it.

The Britains might be sized "close enough" for some or could be used in the background of a K&C display. Just my opinion.

One is 54 and the other is 60 so I think that's self explanatory.

:) Hello Guy's! I Personnaly would Rather Collect Larger Figure's, such as the 1/30th SCALE SIZE! I'm not putting Britains down, but they may look Great, but they're Small to me! And I was Baffled, when I was Hoping that Britains would change their Scale Size, and go to the 1/30th Scale! I'm Dssapointed about Mr. rRchard Walker's Decision, not to go Larger Size!

Why would you be baffled about Britains not changing scales? They've been making 1/32nd for over a hundred years and have a large base of collectors who want 1/32nd.

We just added the prices for a few more WWII items (scenery, PAK 40). They can now be pre-ordered on-line.

Have to agree with my friend jrsteel that the Britians need to remain where they are size wise. Not all of us out there like the larger scaled figures. I only own a few of the 60mm figs and currently only have one on display. Plus Britians have been the industry standard for a long time and there isnt a need for them to try and cut in to the market niche of King and Country NMA and Honour Bound. Anyway just an opinion for a long time Britians collector who is more than satisfied with the scale of the collection he has.

I too like the Britains in the 54mm size. I enjoy the differences in style and size. Wouldn't the world be a boring place if every thing was the same.

No thanks! 54mm is good to go! Dont worry though as you mentioned you now have HB and NMA.... That should keep you satisfied! Britians switching would have been like new coke....wrong in so many ways!
