Yup, I'd like to congratulate Scott as well, and wish him good luck - he's going to need it.

Best Regards

Congrats Scott on your promotion. :)

I couldn't agree more with all that has been said about how helpful the moderators are and without them there would be no forum.

I would also like to publicly thank Brad (jazzeum) for his help with locating some figures over the last week or so. :D

The Treefrog Forum has made some changes to continue to help the forum run smoothly as we continue to grow in both membership and posts.
Moderation will now be shared between members of the Council of Moderators. All moderators have full moderating privileges and can be called upon for assistance with forum issues.
The council is made up of the following members:
· Shannon Reuss
· Jazzeum
· DMNamiot
· Drum
· thebritfarmer
· Peter Reuss

If you have an issue with a post please click the ‘report a post’ icon in the upper right-hand corner of the post and type in the reason that you are reporting it. This immediately sends an email to all moderators with a direct link to the post in question.
If you email or PM moderators individually, without a direct link to the post, it will slow the process down considerably.
Moderators can assist with moving a thread to a different area of the forum, delete messages accidently posted twice and take action on posts that are offensive or break the rules of the forum just to name a few of the things they can help with.
Please welcome our newest moderator thebritfarmer as well as welcoming Drum to his expanded role outside the Imperial Productions area.
My personal thanks to all of our moderators who volunteer their time in this capacity.

Best regards,

To all the moderators...THANKS For the forum!
Mike

Dear Shannon,

My thanks to all of you at Treefog Treasures for hosting the forum and making this all possible.

This forum has become a rich repository of reference material and images on toy soldiers by a variety of manufacturers.

The number of forum members is increasing steadily by the day. The global reach of this forum is quite awesome.

If one logs on to the forum "when America sleeps", the number of guests on the forum often outnumbers members by at least 9 to 1.

Out of curiosity more than anything else, can the forum identify who and where these guests are from?

My special thanks to both Brad and yourself for being a great help in my early days on the forum.

I wish Scott all the best once again on his elevation to the bench.

Best Wishes, Raymond.

:)

Yo Troopers, having a inquiring mind and like to know the ins and outs of how Moderators work, for instance if I post a thread and one person objects does that thread get deleted, or is it up to the Council of collective minds (Borg) lol, that decide on the outcome. I found through experience that some people are born complainers, so is that taken into consideration as well IE: how many times a person complains. I have seen some good threads removed in the past that were very interesting debates, but removed because someone says its an argument. Always being a believer in free speech, after all many a fallen hero in two World Wars died for that privilege, so we could express our feelings, OK I draw a line on sex smut and bad Language even being an (ex Trooper lol) but a lot of words are in the English Dictionary and are not swear words IE; A-S-S meaning a donkey and is deleted. I play online poker and you cannot say Arsenal (football team) or (Cockney)- Londoner, it comes up stop using bad language !WHAT!. So just interested on what grounds threads are deleted and who has the final decision.
Bernard.
Moderating is all done on a case-by-case basis within the context of the forum guidelines Bernard.

We try to leave threads intact when dealing with posts reported as offensive, however at times so many posts later in a thread are in response to an offensive one earlier that once the offending post is removed the rest make no sense out of context.

Our members are great about not using offensive language so this isn't usually an issue on the forum, but there is an anti-profanity program built in to the forum software as well. If you are on a forum where part of a common word is blanked out as in the examples above it is sure to be part of an automatic filter program.

Regards,

Raymond, many of the "guests" are people, and others are search engine spiders that 'crawl' websites page by page picking out the keywords to get those pages registered with whichever search engine they represent.

If you click the "Who's online?" link at the bottom of the main page it will show you which members are on, but you can also choose to see only guests or only search-bots (spiders).
As the administrator I can see the IP addresses of all guests so I suppose if I wanted to look each one up I could see the general area of the world they were from, but nothing specific such as names etc.

I hope this answers your questions.
Best regards,
