Hi all-

I recently got the new 25 Pdr. Field Gun (EA087). While it's a fantastic piece when it comes to detailing, I must admit that I was very surprised to discover a plastic barrel and round platform. As this is my first "big gun" by K&C, I was wondering if this is a standard for their howitzers/guns. Overall, it's a very light-weight item and also my first K&C piece with plastic parts.

Here's a few shots of the new gun:

Why do you think the barrel and firing platform are plastic? Didn't Andy post in an earlier thread that the barrel was white metal? Or was that just the Panzer IV?

I don't recall reading anything about "white metal" nor am I familiar with it; but based on the light-weight feel (esp. the firing platform), seems to be plastic.
I'll have to do some research on white metal.

If it's plastic, that is probably not something I want in my collection, not to mention I'm quite happy with the original.

ANDY! What's Going on? Now, we're getting PLASTIC Artillery Pieces? I don't look Forward to Buy any Future Plastic, K&C or CS! And beside the point of this Matter, the Price's hasn't come down a Bit! KEEPING my Original 25th Pounder Gun and Tractor! ONLY buying the New Figure's! CIAO!

Truely!.....what difference does it make if it's plastic or not, you don't walk around holding it all day feeling the weight! Once in the display case who cares! Talk about a storm in a tea cup! ^&confuse
Wayne.

I don't mind it if it resin as you would get far better detail with it then polystone . I like the English version for Europe but I am also interested in the Australian one .So a decision I will have to make before I pay it off in instalments . Chris.:salute::

IF it is plastic you would think it would be cheaper,BUT i will be very surprised if it is,i care as if plastic is the new polystone ^&grin the price should reflect that.

I love the original (I think it was one of my first Allied K&C pieces) and now I am looking forward to these versions.

Mitch did say before that the 25 pounder gun had plastic parts and the new airborne gun as well :rolleyes2:

I am a bit on the fence with this one as I like having weight in my collectables and I think the weight and detail on the BBA031 US 105mm field gun is spot on. Having said that, I still like my DD 25 pounder and I think the detail and price is very good. I don't have the EA new version yet but it looks good in the pic's and I reckon i'll like this one just as much.

is the DD one plastic mate ??

Plastic ? not for me thanks . Has no value .
I have a whole collection of metal and plastic figures 1/35 scale and hand painted . For the metal ones when I sell, I get €35-up to €45 per figure. For the plastic ones € 0,000000, nobody wants to buy plastic
guy:(

Each to their own of course as it should be, for me I couldn't care less what the figures are made of as I collect what pleases me and I don't intend to sell anything, what matters to me is how it looks and anyway once on display no one knows what they're made of. Price is a different issue and as I don't presume to know the cost of plastic as opposed to ploystone I can't say if one is cheaper or not, I don't care anyway..... if I can afford it I'll buy it.

I wouldn't have a clue mate, all I can say is it's light but then so are my artillery pieces from Figarti and I believe the artillery guns from FL are light as well. It could be a mixture of resin and white metal as already mentioned but I don't know for sure.

^&confuse If you read my post correctly Neil I didn't say the Figarti guns are plastic. All I said is they are light as is the 25 pounder. I wouldn't have a clue what any of them are made of but like I said below, I have read that the 25 pounder is made of a mixture of resin and white metal.
