New guy with comments & questions (1 Viewer)

Boot51,

I have done extensive business with Arquebus and I have never been disappointed. The service is great and anytime I have experienced damage due to shipping (only once), they promptly replaced the damaged item.

Arquebus is run by John and Jeanne Doyan. They are absolutely among my most favorite people. I cannot recommend them too highly!

Warmest personal regards,

Pat

Thanks Louis for the Boston info. Now how much will Tracy let me spend?

Rgds

Andy:)

Thank you Pat, I appreciate your input, in two weeks I've purchased from four different dealers and they've all been great to deal with. Fred

Boot 51: Welcome to forumn-- very good information but it will keep you perpetually in debt. I have to beat wife to ups delivery before I hear same story- "do you really need that" John

Welcome Fred, here,s my advice, if you see a retired item or an item that,s been out for a while and you have any inkling at all that you may want it, get it. It will never get cheaper.
I,ve preached this before but I will say it for your benefit, if there is a retired or hard to find item, go to K&C,s web site and email every U.S. dealer requesting that item, you would be surprised the luck you may have.
Oh yea, you might want to find a second job, you are in the big leagues now.
Gary

Hi Boot.
If you can afford it do not hesistate in getting the AfrikaKorps range. It's a real sleeper range. One day all those that overlooked it are suddenly going to realise it's one of the best series out there.

Also, you better see if you can that Winter Tiger, WS 70, because that is getting very hard to find. Actually, not hard to find, just expensive. It's around $325 or so now.

Hi John and Gary, that seems like sound advice, I'm scooping all the retired but still available items I can get my hands on. And EASY I've already committed to AK26, AK27 and AK29, your preachin' to the choir! Brad, I've snagged a Winter Tiger at Hobby Bunker, it's my favorite piece, so far. Thanks guys, Fred

Hi Fred,

I have a WS69, never displayed, box opened only for verification. I can let it go at 139,00$ US + shipping fees from Canada. If interested, send me a private message.

Regards,
Pierre.

Welcome Fred. Collecting K&C can seem a bit overwhelming at times but just enjoy what you can buy when you can buy it. I've been collecting for about a couple of years and still feel like I haven't caught up.

Welcome to the forum Fred. Addicted you will be. There are many dealers and owners of all the toy soldier companies that visit here so its a very good place to get tips and suggest ideas. I would take Gary's suggestion and email all dealers off the K&C dealer list if your other suggested dealers don't have any of the pieces your looking for. You might want to check with Tim "the toy man" Tyler of Troops of Time in Florida for a WS69. They are not listed on his site but he did have some awhile back. Anyways happy hunting.

Btw guys, I'm going to wait for the 'now with improved tracks and complete figure' version of the Wittman Tiger :)

G-day OzDigger, thanks for the welcome, if you do happen be anywhere near Boston in the future, stop by and I'll crank up the barbie! Fred

Anyone have any comments or opinions on joining the collector club on K&C web site, good idea or no? Also, even though I'm new to this paricular addiction, I've learned quite a bit from this forum, emailing and talking to dealers, the brochures they have generously given me, ebay, and the K&C web site, but I have a long, long way to go. That said, please excuse for rehashing things that may have been discussed on this forum before. It looks like a lot of German armour has already been produced, MarkI, II, III, IV, several versions of the Tiger etc, has K&C done a Panther yet and if so is there any chance they'll do another version, ie winter? Are there other manufacturer's pieces that are compatible with K&C and who has the best line of buildings and accessories,? Thanks, Fred

K&C has produce a Panther in 3 paint schemes which one of them was a winter paint scheme. I think the next Panther to be release will be a battle worn Panther. Other manufacturers are not compatible expect for the very new players like Honour Bound and New Model Army. I think Build-a-rama has the best accessories not too crazy about their buildings because of their size. I still haven't join the club but I want to. :)

All of the German armor is presently retired except for the Mark III and Mark IV in the AK range. All of the other tanks, WS 25, 26 and WS 41, for example, are very expensive although there is a WS 41 on now that's still not bad although it should probably exceed $400 when it's all said and done.

Andy is trying to improve the Collectors Club and the Wittman figure is pretty nice but I wouldn't wait too long on that one. If you're interested in getting old brochures, I'd download them from Bill Sager's site. They do appear on ebay (and I've got a few old ones that I'm planning on selling) but can be expensive although that's one thing hard to predict since prices can vary widely for brochures.

I think JG is generally compatible with K & C and Build O Rama is going to head in that direction, from what I understand. These are available at Treefrog, http://www.treefrogtreasures.com/jgminiatures.shtml and http://www.treefrogtreasures.com/buildarama.shtml

Dear Fred

Many of us are pretty new - welcome!:)

See the photo album here for the old sets, Louis for example probably has the best collection?

Also Bill Sager performs a fantastic public duty by showing the old photos and brochures on his site - you have the web link now.:D

We have not yet formed a self help group yet but ....

Kevin

Hey Kevin,

What do you think the Symposium is: the ultimate self-help group for Toy Soldier fanatics!
