I have had two figures(for a long ) that I would like to paint
MA0816 Afghan Regular Highland Guard 1878-80 and
MA772 British Commissary Officer 1809-1812

To my surprise here are no painting instructions with the figures !

Anyone one have any ideas where I could get this information , short of buying the Osprey books ?

Thanks
Kirk

Think these might be the figures you require. If not post a picture of the castings and I will try to find out more pics for you. Trooper

Thanks Scott and Trooper for this information.

The commissary officer is the exact figure . The Afghan Highlander I have is marching at shoulder arms but the uniform is the same

Thanks again
Kirk

Hi Kirk - nice to see that you found out the correct colours to paint your figures - from some experts. Fascinating!

How about showing us how you get on with them later on? The Afghan "Highlander" will almost certainly be a challenge!

Hi JB, you are right that the highlander will be a challenge . It has been a while since I have painted and I have never ..
done tartans before. Think I will start with the commissary officer.I will post pics when completed

The forum is a great place for information and the members are always willing to share their expertise

Kirk,

I've put together and recycled a few of these kits before and they paint up beautifully. Looking closely at the Afghan Highlander I think that tartan might be very easy to paint as it looks like red check on a white background only. The figure will look impressive once completed.

I've found Obee's tartan painting guide very helpful but I don't think you will need it. My only advice with painting tartan is take your time.

I replace the bases with a heavier base with the New Hope figures.

Enjoy making them!

Scott

The "tartan" is very simple to paint. Paint the skirt white and, when dry, paint deep pink bars horizontally and vertically. Where the lines intersect paint a red square. Trooper

Here is the finished Commissary officer. I can't believe I started this thread over 3 years ago.

This was my first figure with acrylic paint and matte finish. Actually my first figure in a lot of years. I really enjoyed painting it .

I had a terrible urge to use a gloss finish and may do so on future figures.

The Afghan Highlander will have to wait until I do a few more figures before I tackle it .

Lighting is a little poor on the pics

Best regards
Kirk

Nicely painted Kirk. The Sherlock Holmes figure in the dressing gown is particularly well done!

Nicely done, Kirk!

I'm a fan of Imrie-Risley, and it's cool to see you've selected the Sherlock Holmes figures from their catalog. I agree with Scott, I like Holmes in the dressing gown particularly.

I like the other figures you've done, too. The Schwartzkopf figure is interesting, because it looks like it's a white-metal copy of the Verlinden resin figure (they call it "US General, Desert Storm (Schwartzkopf)").

Prost!
Brad

Brad , thanks for the info . The Schwartzkopf figure looks a little small and also his pose looks like he should be holding a weapon. Did the Verlinden figure have a weapon ?
Regards
Kirk
