Guys,

The set hasn't been announced to dealers yet, because we release them in pairs and we don't have the other one ready. I should keep you waiting for a couple more weeks. But a couple of pictures shouldn't hurt, right?

Well Ana, as a big North Afrika collector, this looks like another "must have set" The range in uniform clothing is excellent.
Can't wait to see part 2. :)

The Italians look fantastic! Great job! I think the faces look particularly nice and appear to be sculpted and painted quite well. I know a few people who are just going to go nuts when they see these! I don't collect the African theater myself, but it is getting harder and harder to pass up such offerings. It seems like just a matter of time before I jump in. (It's tough to remain disciplined and focused on constraining collective realms in this hobby w/ new product from multiple ranges seemingly coming from every direction; it's almost like one has to "give up" an era or at least "thin the herd" prior to beginning a new one, both financially and space-wise!) I look forward to seeing the advance pics of the companion set. Thanks for the preview and congrats on the fine work. :)

 Hello Ana! I had a Gut Feeling, that you were going to make these Italian "FOLGORE" Paras! They GREAT! I Hope also,to see he BERSAGLIERI/Trento Units Infantry, and possible a MORTAR TEAM and MG Team and Anti-Tank Gun Team? NICE, keep up the Excellent Production's! NEED ITALIAN Armor also?:);) CIAO!

Looks like the soldier in the camo smock would be appropriate for the RSI North Italian theatre 44-45,, They didnt wear that kind of uniform in Africa, and the skull on the beret wasn't prevalent until the later parts of the war,,,

Daruss - thanks. We'll check all the information we can get about that, and we'll change the camo before releasing the set if necessary. There's no much material about the Italians available, so any help would be welcome.

The insignia on the beret is not a skull, it's a parachute and 2 wings.

Thanks :),

Interesting approach, saying we will check instead of just telling the collector he is wrong.:D

There are 2 Osprey books on the Italian Army including uniforms, and one of those books deals with North Africa. Perhaps someone has them and can check?

The smock uniform is the piece I like the most. If it doesn't fit in North Africa, I'm sure we will see it later on in Italy. :)

These sets appear to be as excellent as the German radio sets offered earlier. I praise this company for releasing interesting and useful subjects in a high quality matte finish. These folks should be supported by the collectors so they are encouraged to continue to develop and offer new WWII products.

Here are 2 illustrations. The 1st is from Osprey The Italian Army 1940-45 (North Africa) and shows a Sergente Folgore Parachute Div. at Alamein 1942. The 2nd shows a Capt. 184th Parachute Div. Tunisia Dec. 1942. It is from a book called Uniforms of WWII by Peter Darman.

The Camo smocks were definitly used by Italian forces during '44 - '45.. These were uniforms of RSI, GNR, and "ITALIA SS" units.. The OSPREY book of the italian army "Book 3" has color plates of those uniforms..
Thanks

They look good defiantly on my list to get. :)

Does that mean the HB figure with the smock could not have been in Africa? What about the smocked figure PolarBear posted?

Terry

I 'll try to find some italian source , i have the 2 books posted by Polar and i confess the camo smock didn't catch my eye as incorrect, obviously it's pretty useless in the El Alamein campaign but could be used in the Tunisian theatre (the remnants of the destroyed Folgore division fought on the Mareth line)..In 1943 the smock already existed , yet i don't know if it was issued to fighting troops. Now it seems we have 3 soldiers ideal for the El Alamein epic role of the Folgore and another more suitable for later engagements, but i think it's a really good piece!By the way i'll find more evidence.Ciao!

Hi, according to that color plate polar bear showed, it looks like it could be used for the later stages of the Africa Theatre..
