Well, I have seen a lot, but this is a new one. Emperor Napoleon Seated - looks approx 75-90mm in size. Finished Gloss. What say you on this maker? I don't know them or I am forgetting knowing it!

thanks in advance!

I have no idea who the maker is but it looks so familiar. Hopefully The Baron can help ! this looks like his area of expertise !

Made in China, but for a French company.
Blaster is our resident Mokarex expert. Mirof could probably also shed light on these.
On the Mokarex site, http://www.mokarex.fr/mhsp_avant_attaque_uk.html, the figure is shown to have been released in 1985, and is part of a set based on an illustration by the famous military painter Eugene Leliepvre.

Yes, it's MHSP and they are still available as castings on EBay.

I have one in my collection, and I have also painted another for a local collector, but in gloss.

Thanks all, pretty cool set. Appreciate the references, now I know what it is. No idea who painted this one, but it is pretty good.

Thanks

Tom,

the painting is OK, but not the colours used for the uniform of an officer of the Chasseurs of the Imperial Guard, which was one of Napoleon's favourite uniforms.

Mokarex has been around for a long time. They started with plastic figures sold in packages of coffee. I don't remember when the metal figure line was started. Coincidentally, I just saw an article on Mokarex and the metal figures recently. But I can't recall if it was in one of the magazines, or online-here in the forum, for example. I have the Voltigeur figure from the "Delivery of the Flags" series. As you can see from the website, these figures are finished in a "pewtered" finish, but can be painted, too.

Prost!

Hi All,

I am not familiar with 1/30 scale MHSP figures and have not seen the actual stamp on their bases, whether originally stamped as Made in France.
However, there are many examples of MHSP Atlas Made in China zamac figures for sale on the web.

I think that MHSP Made in China is linked to the French partworks publishers, Atlas Editions/De Agostini, which In 2008 began to reissue Dinky Toys under Meccano.
These die-cast zamac zinc alloy models were only available by subscription in some European countries, initially France.
These models were from brand new tooling as the original Meccano dies had been sold off or lost.
The castings were similar to original Dinky Toys but the baseplates were marked "Atlas Editions – Made in China" which replaced the "Meccano – Made in England" (or "France") imprints.
These websites explain the arrangement between Dinky and Atlas.
