CS collectors,

would someone be able to post some pictures of the panzer IV and rider/jumper figures for a close look? would be much appreciated.

There are several photos of the Mk IV in the "Size Matters" thread. No pics yet of the riders. I only have the tank so far. It is very nice.

Jbonzo,

Thanks for the info. How are the figures that come with the tank? Are the faces improving from earlier CS figures? Do you have the Stuart and what do you think of it?

Armchairwarrior...

IMO the sculps are getting much better on CS stuff than when they first came out. The latter figures including the tank riders you asked about are much better and have lost that, what a friend of mine described as 'ghoulish' look.

I however, quite liked that look and I know it was going for realism but, they have been toned down

Hope it helps

Do you own any CS stuff Mitch

uksubs....

Quite a few of the LAH figures and, the new LAH dio with figures and, the early Pak motorcycle combo and SS ground troops. The panzer IV as I said the other day is on its way from the states as we speak

The first CS releases had a ghoulish look but that problem was corrected on following releases. It hasn't been an issue for quite a while and the faces are very good on releases after that first wave of releases. The ones I own, while a tick larger than KC, are painted in a gritty, realistic style I really like. I'd guess the ghoul faces are at least 2 years past. -- Al

I think its still there its just toned down. As I said, I like them old and new I just think that the hobby was quite traditionalist and not quite ready for Brians releases and it took a little while for some to come to terms with the releases. Well. from what I have heard anyway. A recent example is the new Himmler for the 1938 release his face in the promo pics looks very strange but, in your hand they are different. But, many manufacturers stuff looks very different in pics to person

Great photos of the figures. The figures are real dynamic and well painted. IMO no one does the small arms as well as CS. The rifles, MP38/40's, and MG's are ahead of other manufactures both in detail and painting. -- Al

I agree...but as much as I like King & Country, no one models the German helmet as well as CS...and take a look at the MG42 gunner's right hand. Most toy soldier sculpts omit detailed hands. Because it's one of the most difficult things to do...even drawing a hand is tough, let alone sculpting it. CS didn't shy away from this. The gunner holds a cigarette with fingers fully exposed. It's quite impressive! ;)

I don't recall many manufacturers who do soldiers reloading guns or stuffing grenades into belts so, the poses are excellent IMO.

I like the figures that came with the Mk IV. As Lancer said, they have a "gritty" look. The riders are very nice and the optional bases are a great idea. The "Germans Reloading" set is one of my favorites. I like their style. Don't have the Stuart. Looks good, though.

Guys,

Thanks for the input on CS.Thank you,Jurgen especially for the excellent pictures.I think I may get the Panzer IV with the riders and jumpers. They look pretty good.

I need to get just the riders now and the panzer later,**** they look good. Thanks for the pics.

Great pics, and thank you for posting! I will be buying both sets. One question though...can anyone figure out what the one standing guy w/ the MG over his shoulder is doing w/ hi off hand? His fingers look purposefully contorted, but for what reason I can't figure it out. Thanks in advance for any forthcoming clarity.

He's got a cigarette in his hand. It's kind of cool.

Now I see! DOH! I had a sneaking suspicion it was something obvious I was missing . I think it's really cool too! I will definitely be adding both of these sets to my collection; they certainly are great looking figures that I imagine are quite versatile as well. Thanks again for posting the pics, and for explaining that strange hand formation that I had trouble figuring out:eek::p.
