As villages grew, a public source of safe water became more important. The Romans understood this and their engineers established the infrastructure to provide this for all of their communities. The wells, baths and fountains became the center of everyday social life and this tradition continued long after the power of Rome faded.

Throughout the small towns and villages of Europe public fountains can be found and France is no exception. Usually located at or near the village square these fountains are often more than functional supplies of water, but examples of the stonemasons art. It is not unusual to see mythical creatures or neo classical figures reminding us of the Roman engineering that perfected the designs in an earlier time.

The sound and sight of the water of the fountain can be refreshing on a hot summer day...

In June of 1944, these peaceful places were often witness to the fierce fighting in Normandy and Brittany. The Germans reluctantly giving ground to the overwhelming force of the invading Allied armies...

Useful for many periods from the 17th century on, our new Village fountain is the perfect centerpiece for your French, Belgian or German village. Compatible with all of the fine products from the current manufacturers and now available from Hudson & Allen studio.

Figures by W. Britain, ONWTC and 1st Legion for scale reference.

All other models featured in these images are by Hudson & Allen studio.
Grassy Base, Multi-family Dwelling, Cobblestone Road with shell crater, Stone Wall...
and of course the Village Fountain.

Thanks for looking,
Ken Osen

Hi Ken,

Very nice work - the water effect is most impressive! ^&cool {bravo}}

Thanks for the kind comments!
We layer three different materials to get the effect of water filling the fountain.
We just finished a small batch of these and I took a few minutes to photograph one before Ericka packaged them all. I will try to get a few photographs with some figures from a different time period sometime soon too.

Hi Ken,

Any info on the new French Village shops you had in the works....Thanks Ron

Hi there,
The 15 new products we have since last September will be on sale at Chicago this year, along with a few new ones. Several of these items are part of our French village, or can be used with it. This includes new buildings and structures.
Hopefully we will see you there!
All the Best,
Ken Osen

Excellent product Ken, great item and I can see this fitting very nicely into lots of dioramas.

Thanks for the positive comments everyone!

I thought I would show a few more images to illustrate how the various scenic components we make can be used to tell simple stories with figures and vehicles from your collection. The figures are GIs I sculpted from W. Britain and ONWTC...the vehicle is from Collector's Showcase.

The H&A scenic items shown are:
Grassy Base with road, Stone Wall, Stone Wall with custom sign, French Fountain and our new Gate.

One of the important towns to take immediately after the D-day invasion was Carentan and both airborne and seaborne forces pushed toward that objective...

GIs advanced through the ancient countryside with both sides suffering high casualties...

What might normally be a gate to a pleasant pasture could very well be a zeroed in killing ground for the German defenders...Every building, wall, gate and corner had to be approached with caution...

The iron gate is part of a limited run, and is hinged to open and close.

Amazing work as always, you could release another version of the fountain with battle damage such as bullet marks etc! {bravo}}
