New Release: Stuart M8 HMC

Im asked all the time, so when are ya going to do some Allied armor? Well here she is our first release and we're sure your gonna love it.

Its my pleasure to introduce our first January 2010 Armor release ( we expect units in mid January ): The Stuart M8 HMC. And this little honey is loaded! You get three crew, the optional thrown track ( the thrown track option has been so popular we are now including it with all of our vehicles! ) a fully detailed turret interior and a bunch of removable stowage. If that wasn't enough you can choose either the winter version or Normandy. Each unit comes complete with a certificate of authenticity. Pricing, just $155.00.

We've been told over and over that our armor is second to none, thats why your gonna see alot more of it. Also Look for a torrent of figures sets to compliment our new vehicles in 2010. Look for this and all of our CS9 release, in just a few short weeks, on our website or at one of our exclusive retailers: www.thecollectorsshowcase.com.

Happy Collecting to one and all: have a great holiday!

Best regards,

Brian

Binder001 or Phantom Warrior, Can you tell us about this "Stuart" tank? What is that short barrelled gun?

It's not actually a tank - it's a gun motor carriage with an open top turret to fit the 75 mm howitzer. It is based on the Stuart M5 or M5A1 chassis. It had a trailer hook to tow an ammunition trailer. It's mission was to provided fire support to reconnaissance squadrons. The Stuart tanks fought in all theatres with more than 25,000 produced of which 2,000 -2,500 were HMC (Howitzer Motor Carriage) models. They were used by the US, Brits and Russians in Tunisia, Italy, western Europe, the Philippines and the Pacific.

Actually, I am not sure if any of the M8 HMC were in North Afrika or Russia, although there were lots of M5 Stuart tanks there.

Thanks for the intel Phantom. Next question. What's the difference between a tank & a gun motor carriage?

I think a tank is a fully enclosed AFV with tracks and a rotating turret although the Char bis and General Lee and Grant main guns were in sponsons and didn't rotate very far. I think the key points are fully enclosed and tracked. Motor gun carriages are usually on a fully tracked tank chasis but are open topped with no turret or an open top turret and limited traverse of the main gun which is a howitzer. Half-tracks can also be gun motor carriages. Tank destroyers are similar as tracked, open top AFVs on a tank chassis, but carried a high velocity gun and I do not think were called gun motor carriages.

I'm surprised CS isn't making some in Pacific camo - There were lots of M5 Stuarts and M8 HMCs in the pacific. In fact, Stuarts were one of the most numerous tanks in that theatre.

I like CS stuff. I have 4 of their AFV, but I may pass on this one. Too many products coming out, and me, like other collectors, with a limited war budget.:(

Man, if you could collect one of every AFV out there now.....that would be quite a collection!

i was just requesting one of these on the kc threat the other day. but this looks so good i guess kc can pass on making one. way to go cs

The CS vehicles are very compatible with KC vehicles. The scales are supposed to be the same 1/30. Small variances exist but on the whole the vehicles match well. The figures of CS are slightly bigger (in most, but not all) cases than KC figures. Even so, the figures will display together if you are not bothered by slight size differences. Some CS figures will appear large next to early KC vehicles which tended towards 1/32. The bases on CS figures are thicker than on KC figures, which accounts for some of the size difference. All in all, the two makers will display together with occasional small variances. I have mine mixed together and it doesn't bother me. -- lancer

The recent CS models I have are 1/30 scale and compare well in size with the recent 1/30 scale K&C. I can only assume the M8 HMC will be 1/30 as well but it probably will be noticeably larger than DD023 Stuart or DD067 M5 Stuart which are 1/32.
