New Release - The Red Ball Express (1 Viewer)

I have spoken to most of the Manufacturers here and there and for years........... I..... and I believe many of you have been begging them for this sort of theme.

Rick was one of them, and like the others..... he seemed to shy away from the non combat themes. I am so happy Rick decided to dive in. There is one more thing I sent him the schematic for ...Oh do I hope he does it...Thanks for this cool stuff Rick.....For those who have not seen this stuff in person.......... WOW.

Cant wait to do some projects with this stuff it is going to be incredible.... Alex

Got my Red Ball Express sign set today . . . for such a simple set, it really makes an impact. I put mine on the D-Day Plus 1 diorama, and it really captures the eye. Great job!:cool:

Red ball express acquisitions...

Hi everyone, I recently picked up a few new Figarti sets, and I'm finally getting around to sharing some pics. My two most recent Figarti acquisitions are ETA-015, the Red Ball Express Dueuce & a Half, and ETA-019, Take Cover! the Deuce is just amazing and the figures are outstanding as well. What jumps out to me the most is Figarti's unmatched attention to detail (I meam look at the pics of the running boards and door!!), and that is what I have tried to capture in the pics as well. I've got my fingers crossed that Figarti will at sometime in the not too distant future release a Deuce loaded with troops! I'd be in line for a few of those! (I hope Rick reads that:p..bring on a troop-loaed Deuce as an encore to this quality performance!). That being said, Figarti's initial Deuce is a classic. Please take a look at the pics and tell me what you think. And the figures that come w/ the Deuce are excellent. I've tried to show nice close ups of the faces, as they are exceedingly well done, as are the Red Ball patches on their sleeves (and on the truck as well). (Exceptional job Rick & Co. :)!). Regarding the Figarti reputation of capturing the finest detail, you gotta love the items sitting next to the driver on the passenger seat. It's quite a nice touch, and even though these items are not in plain view, they are painted w/ the same level of detail we have come to depend on from Figarti. I shot pics of these items down through the gunner's opening. Enough words....pics are woth a thousand of 'em!;).... Oh, one more thing....everything arrived perfectly intact, and the Take Cover set had another layer of protection.... a die cut rubber impregnated type foam material that surrounds the figures that are then sandwiched between two soft foam sections. I took a pic of this too. Enjoy!

Joe

Also, I lamost forgot to mention...in the background you can see what of H & A Studio's latest creations.....their new line of Normandy buildings are stunning and a fantastic compliment to Figarti's work and vice versa.

Here are some pics of the Take Cover! set...Again, nicely done, and it should be noted that the faces on these figures, as well as those on some of the new Eastern front figures, must have been sculpted by a new sculptor. These faces feature a lot more character and implied emotion, and I for one really enjoy this demonstrative style of facial construction; much more war-like rather than staid and commonplace (not the Figarit's soldier's faces have ever been of the latter, expressionless variety-I just think these figures have outstanding faces). So my vote is in, please continue using this sculptor's talents and please commend him/her for a job well done!:D

A few of these pics feature a structure showcasing more of Ken Osen's unparalleled talents.....one of his classic foam building sculptures that were included in one of the earliest Conte playsets...

Nice pics, Joe. I'll second the troop Deuce... I hope we get one sooner rather than later.

Joe,

Some excellent pieces there & I appreciate the pictures. I recently took delivery of the ambushed MP Jeep & the Take Cover set. Both are fantastic. Alby

I'm right there with you! I've got a very strong feeling a troop deuce is forthcoming, and let's hope it's sooner rather than later indeed! It's probably my most wished for vehicle/figure set at the moment. Joe

You're very welcome, Alby. I'm thinking seriously about adding the ambushed MP jeep next. But I'm also considering the Russian beast and the forthcoming British Matador.....ah heck.....I'm considering just about everything Figarti!:) I'm still trying to decide if I should go for the Flakvierling and I'm on the fence regarding some of the Pacific armor as well. I'm thinking I better decide which way I'm going before it's all gone. At the same time, I'm making sure to take the time to enjoy what I already have. Anyways, glad to hear you're enjoying the Take Cover set, too. Those figures sure are nice. I hope Figarti adds more figure sets to the RBE range of the same style. Regarding Figarti, I just landed a nice retired set on ebay this weekend that I was quite excited about. I should have it here in a week or so. I'll let you know what it is and post some pics shortly after its arrival. Joe

Joe,

I think it’s really okay to be indecisive with Figarti, as long as you possess deep pockets. :D:D:D You are right though, you do have to think on it and prioritize, otherwise you run a serious risk that the desired piece will be gone. In that regard, I can’t recommend the MP Jeep highly enough.

Congrats on the retired Figarti set, looking forward to your pics, Cheers Alby.

Outstanding photos. Wish I was half as good . I'm awaiting delivery of the Flail tank and the Beast.

Thanks Alby! I post pics of the mystery set soon...I expect it to arrive in a week or so....I'll be sure to keep you posted. I agree w/ you regarding Figarti purchases...it's tough because I essentially like them all:eek:! I certainly try to choose carefully. I like that Figarti pieces are produced in such limited quantities, but I must admit, sometimes I feel a sense of time urgency as I waffle back on forth on which gem to target next! It's all part of the fun:). One thing that helps me actually is that I have very limited space to display my collection (like many here), and I don't like having things boxed up and put away where I can't see them. The area I keep my stuff in has pretty much reached it's saturation point, so often times, in order to add something new, I must move something out via ebay or the classifieds here. This cycle works well for me, especially in terms of making new purchases that aren't so guilt laden;)! And it's certainly much easier to explain to my better half that the new vehicle that she has just seen rolling past her had been bought and paid for from funding that did not require her Congressional approval:p! LOL
I will definitely let you know if I go for the jeep next. Thanks for the tip on that one. I don't think the jeep set will be around long.

Joe
