NEW RELEASES FOR APRIL 2021
THE SECOND WORLD WAR
GERMAN ARMOUR

Design of the Panzer I began in 1932 and mass production proceeded in 1934. Intended only as a training tank to introduce the concept of armoured warfare to the German army, the Panzer I saw combat in Spain during the Spanish Civil War, in Poland, France, the Soviet Union and North Africa during the Second World War.
Experiences with the Panzer I during the Spanish Civil War helped shape the German Panzerwaffe’s invasion of Poland in 1939, and France in 1940.
The Panzer I’s performance in armoured combat was limited by its thin armour and light armament of two machine guns, which were never intended for use against armoured targets, rather , being ideal for infantry suppression, in line with inter-war doctrine. Although lacking in armoured combat as a tank, it formed a large part of Germany’s mechanized forces and was used in all major campaigns between September 1939, and December 1941, where it still performed much useful service against entrenched infantry and other ‘soft’ targets, which were vulnerable to machine gun fire.
Although it was quickly surpassed by more powerful successors, the Panzer I’s contribution to the early victories of Nazi Germany during WW 2 was significant.

John’s Panzer I is a fantastic model for sure and it’s neat this is a tank from Rommel’s 7th Panzer Division. However, save for some slight retooling and the turret numbers, this is too similar to the earlier Panzer I models for me to warrant a purchase... I’m eagerly awaiting the remainder of the crew figures shown for the Panzer I Ambulance and Munitionsschlepper!

I like the Panzers but I can’t help but wonder what happened to the King Tiger?

Patients mate it's coming and will be worth the wait.

I was lucky enough to see and inspect the prototype at Sierra before it was given to the winner of the Chicago Show Treasure Hunt in 2019.

It is, or should I say was, spectacular.

18 months later it seems that it has all but disappeared despite the existence of said prototype and preorders that were taken by dealers.

I am simply looking for some information and/or insight into its status.

Just a comment Panzer ace :)

Not all shown JJD prototypes reach production (even some painted examples) Very frustrating (has been for me) but they are only prototypes I guess.

The King Tiger is a fair old bit of kit so hopefully it is just taking a fair old bit of time. - Hope you get to see it :)

Bests

WWII is a busy field with K&C dominating. John is not particularly interested in this conflict except that he is intrigued by the vehicles and Planes. He told me there is little chance we will see WWII troops from Jenkins. In addition, it is one of the slower moving ranges, so he much rather allocate funds and capacity to more popular ranges. This all makes sense to me. My information is now several years old, but I would be surprised if a lot had changed.

Agree, WWII with K & C, T Gunn, Warpark, F Legion and also tanks from E Design make it croweded market, as they say when you pick your market you choose your competitors.
John has cornered the market in some great eras, Aztecs, WFP range, Saxon/Norman/Viking, his Roman releases are both diverse and excellent, the enemies of Rome range are the best. Finally his WW1, not my era to collect, are also brilliant and have a few Luft and RFC to compliment my WW1 TG planes.

On WW2 i think his King Tiger will sell well.

I think where John can really corner the market with his WWII range is with his level of detail and quality versus the price point. Basically make better vehicles and aircraft than his competition. His Jagdpanther, Stug III, and Panzer I are among the best WWII-era tanks in the scale in terms of quality versus price point...

Agreed, I also think many older collectors are becoming a little more 'discerning' with their vehicle purchases in recent times.

With finer detail and weathering becoming increasingly important for some.

Of course price is always a major consideration as well as scale.

John’s WW2 armor offers the perfect mix of accuracy, uniqueness and price point.

Just a heads up that this one is going to be released in May instead of April! Slight delay for those of you who have pre-ordered already.

Well, K&C just released a $400 Israeli Centurion and a $359 P-51B, so it appears John's stuff is no longer more expensive and it appears that K&C is moving towards a different Value Proposition. IMHO, $400 for a K&C tank is a bit much so I won't be getting it.
