New Releases for Chicago! (1 Viewer)

And how is Figarti even producing these tanks? I thought they were out of business^&grin

Most detailed Panther G the hobby has seen. Can't wait to get my Figarti Panthers in a week or so.

The early Panther G's are being produced in small quantities. Matt at hobby Bunker is only receiving about 36 pieces of two versions. I think the custom pieces are a good move. A lot of collectors would like a specific panzer involved in a specific battle. The camouflage paint quality has certainly improved over the first offering.

36 pieces are much better than zero. Sure signs of life. Hopefully they ramp things up in the coming months. If Figarti were smart at this point they would do a King Tiger
with an appealing paint scheme ! Surely they would sell every one made !

I purchased my two panzers at the show and they are some of Figarti best. Go Figarti!!! :salute:: :salute:: Ron

The original late Panther G release by Figarti had the Flame Arrester Exhausts. The early Panther G #801 should also have them to be an accuate model IMO.

Just depends on what you want and if you wanted it to look exactly like the museum Panther.

Personally, I'd leave the exhausts as is. While the flame suppressor exhausts could be retrofitted to earlier model Panther Ausf Gs, I've never seen a historical pic of this configuration for a Panther (I have seen a Jagdpanther though). To me it makes more sense to have the armor shielded exhausts. Looks better.

I was always under the impression that the wheels should be a single colour. I would still get one though.

I thought the new Panthers looked great, but I was blown away by the M26 Pershing, and bought it instead!^&grin

I am no expert, but they are not the same color on the actual restored Panther with that turret number.

My understanding is that single colour wheels rotating are less visible than patterned wheels. Therefore camo would not be as effective, but I'm not sure whether this would have made too much difference.

That was the policy and the way they usually emerged from the factory, but there are examples of camo being applied to the wheels in the field.

Wouldn't wheels just get natural cam.

One other thing that I remember reading is that camouflage was really not intended to keep you from being seen at normal ground combat ranges. Most camo was only effective against extreme range viewing such as from an aircraft or through the optics of a vehicle or large caliber gun.
