NEW RELEASES FOR SEPTEMBER 2020
THE FUR TRADE
THE MOUNTAIN MEN

A mountain man was an explorer who lived in the wilderness. They were instrumental in opening up the various Emigrant Trails (widened into wagon roads) allowing Americans in the east to settle the new territories of the far west by organized wagon trains traveling over roads explored and in many cases, physically improved by the mountain men and the big fur companies originally to serve the mule train based inland fur trade.

THE FUR TRADE,
THE MOUNTAIN MEN,
MOSES “BEAR CLAW” MACKENZIE.
(1 pc)

Mountain men were most common in the North American Rocky Mountains from about 1810 through to the 1880s (with a peak population in the early 1840s). Approximately 3,000 mountain men ranged the mountains between 1820 and 1840, the peak beaver-harvesting period. While there were many free trappers, most mountain men were employed by major fur companies. The life of a company man was almost militarized. The men had mess groups, hunted and trapped in brigades and always reported to the head of the trapping party.
This man was called a "boosway", a bastardization of the French term bourgeois. He was the leader of the brigade and the head trader.

this is a really cool looking figure...
not something you see any other manufacturer making...
I'm getting this guy...

Not collected this range until now - this figure will make a great stand alone piece.

Yep, very detailed figure and a great headsculpt.

I bought the first figure in this series, but unfortunately have had to pull the plug on further collecting of "The Fur Trade", as I am already spending to much money on getting every single figure from Conquest of America and The Age of Arthur, and most figures from The Ancients and The Civil War.
It is a dilemma, because every "New releases" day feels like Christmas, but my purse long for the old days, with a smaller release output ;)

I agree, looked at the Fur Trade, but I am collecting from JJ the Aztecs, Rome's Enemies, WW2 and picking up a lot of WW1 lately. There looks to be some great new Roman sets coming up, the Aztec series goes from strength to strength and the WW2 new releases are a must for me.

Plus there are other manufacturers who have a tug on my wallet, but this is a JJ thread...….. We are in a time of some great TS releases, but, as with many collectors, funds and display space are my limitations.

Agree with all these sentiments.....I was not going to collect this series but its so unique and well portrayed that a small vignette is needed. This Mountain man
with a couple of Native Americans will look great!
