Well I would’ve expected some more new releases by now (lots of previews in Toy Soldier Collector), it’s nearly 2 months from the last offerings (routine for new releases announcements now).

No chance of any new releases in the UK before Christmas even if First Legion announce new releases in the next few days.

Hugely disappointing year for me as a First Legion collector. Limited meagre new releases, lots and lots of repaints of previous issues, and a continuous sale that hasn’t made any inroads to UK distributors.

Role on 2021, though I’m unsure if First Legion service will improve any time soon. Luckily John Jenkins is continuing to improve its figures and ranges.

Agree on JJ, great year of releases. I got rid of my few FL early last year, had about 115 figures, lack of new stuff, price when compared with other manufacturers and the need to readjust my collecting habit were the reasons. I think there are others, Britains [i have said enough about that situation on their thread], but K & C for me it has been a very disappointing this year, but their problem could be with the awful loss of Gordon, true gent and together with Andy have pushed our hobby to new heights in the last 20 years, so i can see why. F Legion i think will struggle and seem to be mirroring what has been happening to Britains, few releases and repaints. I hope they and Britains sort themselves out as competition is good for choice.

I also think Warpark must have had an effect on FL, i have 51 of their figures, German Winter WW2 Russia and they are great, of a similar style to FL and are better value in my opinion.

Think JJ along with T Gunn are now pushing the frontiers.

I love my War Park figures too, but I doubt FL will struggle.

War Park are pretty close to FL and a good substitute, but they're still not as detailed as FL. I've gotten into Romans and Naps recently, and FL Roman figures (especially the newer winter ones) are as good as Aeroart, at less than half the price.

It's all about perspective.

The FL sale has been awesome. I have filled in so many holes and gotten into new lines. It’s been great.

I am looking forward to getting back to new releases in January after the sale ends.

A few other manufacturers have also been good, but I have been OK without releases during the Big Sale.

The problem is gonna be after the sale when figure prices go back to normal, there will be much gnashing of teeth. {eek3}

You know about covid has affected everything, blame the Chinese for this, hardly any airlines flying so postage is alsot at a halt, and with China issues cannot complain, I miss releases as well, but be realistic and have patience

If I was FL I would let the prices as is. It is difficult to go back to the original price once an item is discounted...

That would be glorious if the sale got extended again.

I also think it's in First Legions benefit somewhat, as there are a number of items I still want to buy in new ranges that I don't normally collect. The sale price makes them attractive, but if I can't get them purchased prior to prices reverting to normal, I'll probably just skip going into those new ranges, as my interest in them would not be enough to want to pay the normal prices, and I'd just stick to WW2.

I am in complete agreement here. Would really like to pick up some figures from ranges I don’t normally collect, but at full price I’d have to pass and stick to my usual ranges.

I think everyone loves a sale, and First Legion’s has been impressive but not if you order in the UK. Our dealers haven’t applied the sale prices, so UK buyers get the standard UK high rip-off prices.

Sales are great, but it’s the new releases that gets the excitement flowing and First Legion’s performance in the past 6 months in this regard has been poor. I’m certain Matt reads these posts so I expect a response, but I’d rather see new figures than listen to his and others ‘how dare you criticise First Legion’ remarks.

My letter to Santa ‘some new First Legion releases please and make it snappy’

I ordered from the UK and was pleasantly surprised. I had to pay duty before the Royal Mail would deliver but postage and duty came to about 10 percent of the price which is still massively cheaper than buying in the UK.

New releases are coming in January, no indication from Matt as of yet as to whether he's going to continue to offer previously released items on sale.

We'll see.

....especially with the prices being heavily discounted and for so long. Most anything that is not blown out during this month's long sale will not sell briskly if at all once the prices go back up. It's a scenario FL surely considered, sacrificing potential future sales for a bulk influx of current sales.

Exactly right, if the original Greeks on sale were any indication. It is also logical, collectors will continue buying if the sale continues (I am one of them).
But if a figure does not sell at a discount...guess what it will not sell at full price for sure!

.. Sorry if this is irrelevant or not.. But... The days of First Legions Shock and Awe figures, I think are gone.. I was impressed and awed, when they Released The Patton Tanks (VN-028 and VN-024), came out.. They were Fantastic Looking!!.. FL releases was awe inspiring, can hardly wait for the next release.. But these past couple of years, its been ehhh, they have ventured to other ideas. Fantasy Figures namely one. And it might have just taken a lot of their energy, and split their ideas more, more and it became too scattered.. I wanted to start a new army, and in my research, like in the Napoleonic Wars.. Never run out of Standard Bearers, And drummers, Possibility 5or6 to 1 ratio, because if it doesn't have those, that particular army went dead, because it doesn't have a centerpiece to square up to.. Example.. The Highlanders, over abundance of rack and file, but no one to rally to..
I hope I am wrong... Because I want to be Shocked.. I want to be Awed..

The sale was totally ineffectual in the UK, nothing was really passed on and buying from them direct was just to expensive in terms of postage. They are great figures and I have assembled a small but respectible amount, but its all been via the ebay resale market.

if the Uk dealers had passed on the same discounts I would have invested quite heavily.

Sgtminiman, your comments on UK agents not applying the First Legion discounts are spot on. I find it really annoying but I don’t believe Matt can force them to lower prices. I too would have bought a hell of a lot more but not at Maison Militaire’s inflated prices (any US Dollar price simply becomes a pound Sterling conversion, or higher prices for the uninitiated).

So no releases before Christmas, despite many adverts of new stuff in Toy Soldier magazines. Oh well roll on 2021 and you never know we may see some First Legion new releases consistency (don’t bet on it.....).

Merry Christmas all (and any festive cheer Matt is much appreciated).
