New resin/plastic soldiers at show (1 Viewer)

If these figures carry over to the WW2 European theater I'm on board. They would be great for those of us who can create large diorama's. It would help as well free up funds for the purchase of large ticket items, I.E. vehicles which I can't seem to have enough off with the current and future vehicle releases.

Resin should at least keep the bayonets/swords/firearms straight compared to plastic. I had some of the Conti pre painted plastic Civil War figures years ago that were great, but the rifles were always bent at odd angles like a bad Viagra commercial.
I collect 1/43 scale cars and many of the more expensive ones have resin bodies - it is supposed to allow better detail of the scoops/vent/body lines etc.

Plastic is a form of resin and can be given characteristics to allow high detail and not have bendy swords or rifles. Plastic isn't necessarily a poor medium - it really depends on it's composition. It's possible to make plastics that collectors couldn't tell whether it was plastic resin or traditional resin or even metal. Polystone itself is just a resin within a certain range of composition.

Well done to K&C for trying something a bit different it mightnt necessary work but top marks to them

I attended the London Show last Saturday and went home with one of the new KnC Shermans. I thought it looked a lot better in reality than the photos that preceded its release. I have alway wished to add a Sherman to my D-day collection and this seemed a good, and fairly cheap way to achieve it. I understand that the mark of Sherman modelled may not be appropriate for date and theatre but I, for one, can happily live with that. Sixty-nine pounds is not cheap (but about the current rate here in the UK for a FoV model which are of course 1/32). It is certainly easier on the pocket than the two-hundred pound plus being charged, say for the new Jagdpanther. So the chance to have access to vehicles that are cheaper and only slightly less detailed than their polystone cousins is to be appaluded and a development I for one welcome. It will be interesting to see what the next vehicle in the KnC range will be. For myself I would like to see a StuG.

I do not collect the "Alamo" range but the plastic Mexican soldiers on display on the K&C stand looked perfectly acceptable and impressive en masse. If I was a Napoleonic collector I would be looking forward to the potential that such a development opens up. From what Andy was saying last Saturday I got the impression however, that the World War II figure ranges will remain a metal preserve. Which now doubt will be regarded by many as good news.

Fully agree. Since day one of me discovering K&C on the internet it is most often the case that however good the product looks online it is almost always better in the flesh so to speak. It was the case way back then and it remains true right up to the latest Arnhem releases that are superb when you see them right in front of you. There is nothing like seeing the product before your eyes on the day of purchase, the internet is a great thing no doubt about it, but standing there at a show with fellow collectors and producers is a different league of TS experience.

I'll make my mind up on the Sherman in March, looking forward to seeing it.

My observations having actually seen the KnC range on Saturday are.

The KnC Sherman packaging makes it look very toy like but actually the tank itself looks far better in person. I appreciate that some say it is not historically accurate. If you want a cheaper option to display a Sherman then it would look fine. I have 3 KC Sherman’s and if I wanted it for background I would probably weather it as it appears a bit too clean. Personally, I prefer the Figarti Shermans (I have the flail tank) but that is a different price point.

The KnC Mexicans I compared with the new Royal Marines and I would say that they do not appear to be painted to quite the same standard. However, the difference is not that great, if they are used as gap fillers in a dio they would work very well. They do appear far studier than what we traditionally think of as plastic soldiers with bent guns etc however, if you placed them on the long grass JG mat then due to their lightness they may not stay upright.

I think the issue will be the number of poses offered. If they move into Naps - having a square of Foot Guards would only look good if there was more than one pose of a soldier kneeling with a bayonet.

I think the real bonus will be with cavalry – which across all manufacturers they prices have risen considerably. If KC produced Scots Greys for a 1/3 of the current price then they would complement all the previous releases I have.

These resin figures will fit well into a large Alamo planned for next summer.
A few dozen will be welcome.
I won't have to paint so many figures myself.
However, painting some would be relaxing and fun.
My question is , can they be cut up for conversions ?

Exactly my thoughts too, so bring on the NAPs, Andy.

Hey dudes:

I think those figures look great and always glad to see manufactures come out with new stock and new ideas.

As I'm behind on this subject and pretty daft in general, I have a few questions:

1. Did K&C release any further information about additional product lines or theatres being covered in the future?
2. My two cents is that this product works best with numerous multiples. Thus Dday(Big Red 1), Naps/Crimean, or even band sets would be best(YES, LEGION BAND)
3. I'm sure what is chosen in number 2 is sales driven and I don't sell these for a living, thus I pretty much know nothing.
4. Is it possible that we will see plastic warbirds or diorama pieces with this range? How about a full on aircraft carrier or destroyer in plastic - shipping costs solved - oh yeah(kool aid voice)
5. With most plastic molds there is wicking or trim pieces left over. Was anything like this evident on these plastics?

Keep it silly
