Thanks! I am just glad he has an anatomically correct head................................:p:tongue:

The head is covered - you are safe.

TF must pay their show representatives well. I need to call Julie.

Tom,
Congrats on that, it's spectacular..................good for you.....................although I can't help but think of a certain collector I know going over that with an LED flashlight and telling you "When you hold the elephant upside down at a 90 degree angle on leap year, between his front leg and his body you can see a slight paint imperfection"...........................................:rolleyes2:

That is one beautiful piece, Tom.
Congratulations to that addition to your collection.
Absolutely amazing work.

Konrad

Simply amazing. I hope to add an elephant to my collection someday. I am anxiously awaiting First Legion's entry into war elephants.

Now that might be the quote of the year! Good times and good times!

Thanks for the compliment on this elephant! What is nuts is I actually didn't break the bank on this one, it was well worth it and reasonable, sometimes you just get lucky in this hobby!

NOW..............on another note, come see me in November at Hackensack and see what I have obtained, that particular pachyderm will be the pinnacle of my collection. Teaser - 1 of 3 ever made, fully blown Arsenyev at its top quality...................6 months time all will be revealed!!!

Hey if nothing else, after selling toy soldiers for 20 years, I've got some good stories...................................and dinner was awesome at the MFCA show, glad we got to spend some time and had a million laughs......................

This is a very interesting piece Tom, congratulations on getting it! I've never seen the Aeroart 6128 Roman elephant configured this way. The Howdah contains three Arsenyev figures from the Russian Vityaz PB50 Carthaginian war elephant (small numbers of these figures were sold individually). The driver figure originated from Aeroart's Seleucid war elephant. A very interesting combo of figures.

Regarding your other new elephant...would it happen to be an Arsenyev PB700 Chinese elephant?

Hi Joe,
As I understand it , Arsenyev has and does continue to produce certain sculpts he did for Thor. Thor indicated to me that specifically older sculpts were owned by Arsenyev and are produced in limited numbers for Russia. Now, what I posted is the write up and history of this elephant. It was a special order directly from a UK collector to Arsenyev. You will notice the howdah is completely different than the Aeroart production piece which I though was unique. The painting on the elephant was done by brigade master in the studio and is quite excellent. The bottom base is not marked aeroart, it is just plain brown. Again, it is a one off that was done for a collector. I couldn't believe how lucky I got! It came in its own specially packed plain heavy cardboard box and on the outside was a hand written note simply - Elephant - 2200 pounds and that was from 1999!! Anyhow, with the quality of painting, I thought this was a score!

On the other elephant - I have the Chinese Emperor Elephant and the War elephant........this one is an elephant in action. I have never seen it and I can't wait to get it. Pics after Hackensack!

On another note, I finally scored 2 Chinese Chariots, so in that realm I am down to only finding the Aeroart "Dragon" gun.

Not sure I've ever actually seen a dragon gun. Keep hunting young Tom! Keep hunting

Yes, keep hunting Tom, but make sure you bring your LED flashlight, it will help you with your bargaining with the seller if he thinks you're an escaped mental patient.........................:wink2:

I'd love to find this one too....
