New Star Wars Movie (1 Viewer)

Saw it last night. I liked it. My nephew, who goes to a lot of movies, thought it was one of the best SW movies. My son, who fashions himself a bit of a purist, said it's ok. I know a lot of the faithful were moaning but I thought it was very good.

I saw it 3 times already; explanation: I made my 4 "kids" (today they are 27, 25 and twins 17) SW fans, so what can I do but to go along...LOL {sm4} Anyway, all 5 of us (and we are all die-hard fans) LOVED it!! In our unanimous opinion one of the best of the 9 (8+rogue one) so far!

Thanks, I had heard the purists were not happy. Thought Rogue One was great and going to the new one. Didn't what to expect. Chris

My son didn't like it very much. But he is a so called "purist". I'm not a "purist" per se but there is a lot that really doesn't make sense, fit or is explained. IMO Disney is ruining the Star Wars name. At one point i thought I was watching "Spaceballs" not "Star Wars". I did like Rogue One though.

Saw it with my younger son (20) who is a SW fan. He was a little disappointed with the first part (too much talking, not enough fighting I think). Overall I found it OK. I did prefer Rogue 1 too..

They have moved on from the Skywalker saga; purists probably don’t like that. I read that Disney has eight more movies planned. Rian Johnson will direct the next three movies which will follow the new story line.

I know that some don’t like the present direction but Disney didn’t pay $5 billion for nothing. We saw an ad at the movie for a Star Wars cruise and I think I heard something about a Star Wars resort, although I could be incorrect about the last one.

9 had a lot to live up to following The Force Awakens and Rogue One... what we got this year was a return to Jar-Jar Binks, IMHO.

All,

I'm just proud to say that I (and I am sure most of you) have seen ALL the Star Wars movies in theaters, when they actually came out and have been apart of the force since the beginning.

We are a dying breed us few Jedis.

I am a purist I think considering in 1977, I saw the first one in the theaters and have read every book/sequel etc ever since, I know my galaxy!! That said, saw the movie today Last Jedi..............................and loved it. It was a fitting end to the Skywalker saga or is it the beginning of his legacy??? Point is, I thought it answered a lot of questions, left some unknown, but all in all was a great movie. It had nice plot twists and it had the goofy comedy, hello purists???? Han Solo made dumb jokes for a helluva a lot of the screen time he had on the films. I thought it was flat out great. And please, No Jar Jar haters, that character was quite lovable and I still like it today, next thing you know the PC idiots at Disney will reshoot that one...........

….like many here, I recall going into the pictures in ’77 to see ‘Star Wars’ (billed as the ‘western set in space’….great times!)….and I’ve always preferred the ‘first’ three films, as we kids of the day classed them….:wink2:

…I now take my young son to see the new films….we both thoroughly enjoyed ‘The Force Awakens’….I found it very close in style to the original films…….and the most over-riding memory of watching that film was when all the Dads in the audience exclaimed at the same time, “No way, you can’t kill Han Solo !”….{eek3}

…we saw ‘Rogue One’ together…..more serious in tone, with nice elements of humour…….again very enjoyable….

….on the weekend of the UK release, we went in to see ‘The Last Jedi’…….more action, humour, coupled with the poignant scenes involving the late Carrie Fisher…..we both thought it was great….(not too sure about those Porg’s though!)….

….and that’s what makes these films so well liked……they are full of wonderful cinematic escapism…..I have carried the memory of that first film from all those years ago, and now my son has the memory of our time together enjoying these recent films….and hopefully that will stick with him into his adult years…..:smile2:

…..fun-times!

I saw this yesterday and it was ok (especially the opening scene) but in my opinion I think Rogue 1 is the better of the 3 newly released movies of the franchise.

I really liked it! The whole business with the casino trip was weird but a break from the real action was probably needed. I really liked the complexities shown regarding Ren. The way Luke's concluding duel was depicted also sat very well with me. There were some great scenes, particularly the contrast with the white ground and red 'dust'?? that was thrown up in the attack on the Walkers. A better experience than the previous edition (not Rogue - that was quite pleasing though).

Saw this last night. Thought it very good, not great, but a good addition to the series. Rogue One was better, as seems to be the consensus. There was an audible reaction from the audience to the last scene with the child. Chris

I saw the film today and agree. After the original trilogy, I think Rogue One was the best "new" Star Wars movie followed by The Last Jedi.

Rogue One is better than The Last Jedi, imo.

I saw it twice, liked better the second time understanding it more. Well if you did not like this movie maybe the new spin off will satisfy, due out in May, Han Solo story. Robin.

Ok, I might be the last person on the planet who had not seen The Last Jedi until today.

I liked it, plus I was the only person in an 80 seat theater. ^&grin
