New WB Fall Releases Now ONline (2 Viewers)

The Nimrod SAS is a very welcome addition . No new AZW gloss, but that didn't really surprise me. A few good figures for the matte range but where are the lancers? A couple of guns wouldn't hurt the range as well. But maybe I'm just too impatient :). Like the camel corps officer a lot.

Do you think that the glossy AZW line will go down, like the Indian Mutiny or the Crimean War? That would be sad.

I don't know, but the WB priority seems matte at the moment and most collectors talk about it on the forum. They seem the biggest sellers. There also isn't any buzz surrounding the gloss figures that I have noticed.

Sadly nothing new in World War I... I think, Britains WWI are the best infantry figures
Highly agree with this. I find the WW1 figures to be very animated, accurate, and well painted. Especially like the new currasiers. -- lancer

Richard or Ken,
could you give us the dimensions of the 18th/19th century farmhouse?
As it is a full building, does it have interior detail too?
Konrad

Hi Konrad:

The size is - 9.75 inches (250mm) long x 11 inches (280mm)wide x 8.25 inches (210mm) tall.
It has a complete interior with lift off roof and lift out loft floor. There are two ladders and a basket of wood for the fully detailed fireplace. All of the doors operate as well.

Thanks,

Richard

Thanks, Richard,
that sounds great. It will be an awesome piece for many photo settings.

Konrad:

I do want to keep some gloss AZW going. As some have pointed out, the matte range is certainly performing well and getting the lions share of the investment. But there continues to be strong interest in gloss too - it really is a matter of time and resources. I really want to get the majority of the Drift done by end of this year/early next and then look at some new matte AZW subject matter. This will consume sculptors and production facilities so there will be little room for much new in gloss. That said though, I do have one new gloss 24th sitting here on my desk...waiting....so all is not lost.

Hopefully us collectors won't be flooded with to much product that we can't afford to buy all at once :)..............then it will be off to ULUNDI :D :D :D :D

It's not easy being a gloss collector these days:(
The sad thing is that Britains gloss figures are top notch in detail, sculpting and painting. Perhaps as the Lt. has suggested some white tropical helmets would help sell the AZW series.

There is some GREAT stuff coming out this fall! Will there be more WWI coming out this year?? PolarBear...I'm with you on that one...I only collect gloss Zulu. I had to make choices to narrow down my collecting habits to allow for other lines of soldiers. Matte and Gloss Zulu was to much...

Richard (and others)

There have been a few departures from the drift like the Melvill exclusive and the Closing stages set. It would be nice to see some piece of artillery before spring next year or something else un-driftish. For variety you know.

And a couple of more Nimrod figures as far as I'm concerned. Corgi was planning a diorama piece a couple of years back and I saw a pic of it. It was from their Forward March line and it looked pretty good (building facade with two troops abseiling from it and two on the balcony) must have it around somewhere. Now that would be nice done WB style.
Seriously, you should do that Richard. Everyone would buy it.

edit; small pic to get the idea http://www.sandyheath.co.uk/cc59428...p-2047.html?osCsid=ffo4b1j2ucppjqp8e2eng1a6h5

I understand about the gloss and it was expected.

End of rant...

I discovered recently a passion for the Redcoats range (i have only 2 at the moment but i'm waiting for another batch)and being a great admirer of the military might of the Victorian era i was noting that there's a great "hole" of 30 years between the 1822 and 1854, so i'd like to know if there are in store for us soldiers of the afghan and sikh wars, a period portrayed in many books and very important to me for the contribution of one of my ancestors.

Amen to your suggestions:)

End of rant...

I would argree with most of these comments.
I do hope the gloss range develops a bit more.
I would like to see more artillery and mounted figures.
The gloss range needs to be kept in production teh way Trophy and LL do it.
In other words people who start late should be able to get hold of earlier pieces/
This means built in obsolesence should not be a feature.
I know this is difficult as Trophy and LL had slightly different business models.
They controlled all aspects of production so as long as a mould was fine they could redo a line
I just feel that the gloss ZULU stuff will be a slow burn type range.
People will get into it slowly.
If they are suddenly unable to pick up earlier and essential sets it may put them off.
Please keep up the good work
A AZW limber would be great as your WWI last year was a stunner

I understand about the gloss and it was expected.

I did notice that Corporal Schiess of the NNC is now, for the first time ever, wearing his correct uniform, not the one always shown in Zulu. This is wonderful to finally see.
Mike

I especially love the new WWII figures!

Vick:D:D:D
Love especially this rider
36025%20LR.jpg
for the originality of the pose , too often the lancers point in front. And about this guy
25016%20LR.jpg
... perhaps someday will come a German firing panzerfaust

It is indeed Mike. and a strange part of that movie the credit him as NMP and in that uniform but at the end when VC are being read they say Schiess of NNC. Wonder why they titled him wrong in the movie?

I agree , I have just dipped my toes into britains Zulu figures a couple of
weeks back and although I would have prefered gloss, I went with the
matte figures as it seems to be a far more comprehensive range of releases.

That's cool, Richard,
thanks again for a reply. If some figures for the gloss AZW series are still coming in the future, that is all I needed to know.
Until then I will be busy with your "Classics". There are some beautiful new releases in the Bluecoats, Redcoats, series and I am looking forward to them.
Konrad

The Zulu series in matte looks fantastic, but also the glossy one. This is a problem that I won't have because although I love these figures I am busy collecting other lines. To me matte Zulus look better than the glossy ones, but 24th foot in gloss is something else, just that extra shine on those beautiful uniforms:p.
I wouldn't say that it's a hard time to be a gloss collector, at least concerning Britains. I love the Redcoat Napoleonic figures, a range that looks very promising and the French and Indian War figures, which I am collecting. To me the Britains glossy classic collection keeps getting better and better and these figures and Imperial's are clearly the best glossy ones around, which is something to be noted because there are other nice glossy brands.

Paulo

Hi All!
To give you gloss collectors some more hope, please know that Richard and I have discussed several new subjects to add to Redcoats and Bluecoats to round out the series. There are several important gaps to be filled in the beginning, the middle and the end.
As you can see part of the reason for the delay in visiting other time periods is that we have gone back to fill in NCOs, officers and other specialty figures for some figures we already have in the range. Doing this has allowed us to offer the F&I/Seven Years War period 45th Regiment of Foot.
Hopefully we will see a few more new units and time periods in the next couple of catalogs, in addition to new figures for existing units.
Be assured that we will continue the Classic Gloss.
Ken
