Panzer 88 (2013)
Release Date:2013
Director:peter Briggs
Writer:peter Briggs, James R. Cowan, Aaron Mason
Studio:Corona Pictures
Genre:Action, Thriller, War
The plot follows the five-man German crew of the Ilsa, a King Tiger, the biggest tank of its day, on a mission to the frigid and fearsome Russian border, where they tread into an ancient mystery by stirring a powerful entity.

So not Peter Jackson but WETA from NZ are involved, so a high quality replica seems very likely - if it all goes ahead....

Thanks for the info Larso, this movie sounds interesting although having monsters running around the Russian front might ruin it. I'll keep an eye out for it though...

Guys, you really had me interested there, a movie about a Tiger crew that may be good I thought........and then of course, it meets a monster of some sort:rolleyes2:

PLEASE SOMEONE MAKE A WAR FILM WITHOUT MONSTER ZOMBIES OR ZOMBIE MONSTERS OR HITLER AS DRACULA FOR GODS SAKE!

Not even a little monster or zombie making a cameo appearance Rob..:rolleyes2:^&grin

I agree though, i would prefer a full blown WW2 movie with a good story, good acting and historically accurate AFV's, artillery, trucks, kubelwagons, jeeps etc!

Do you remember what they did to the Biggles movie? I really looked forward to it and they made him a time traveller!

Well given he was a young fighter pilot in WW1 and then managed to do special ops type missions in WW2, before various other adventures in the following decade, he appeared to have some ability to defy the ageing process.

I can not see where the problem is. There are so many re-enactment associations about who possess loads of old WWII stuff ( incl Tigers)
Look at the pic for a small example

Mitch, I agree, can't see the appeal in any of that myself, just give me a good old War film. Real events, realistic action and AFV's, and not directed by Mr Gibson and I'm happy.:wink2:

Rob..

With some of his very ''good'' movies perhaps Ozombie bin laden was one of his covert releases?? However, I do fully agree with you about classic war movies sadly, they seem a thing of the past in terms of WWII

Yeah, all it takes is a studio to fund the movie and a good director that does his or her research and is willing to approach museums and private collectors to rent the authentic vehicles.

There's quite a list here -

http://www.imdb.com/list/sROV3XlPh2g/

Some are very intriguing! Note that only a few have the names of actual directors and actors attached to them. How many end up actually getting made is complete guesswork......
