Hello all,

Our comrade here, Sandor, with the above screen name, was in touch with me yesterday. He asked me to post here that he is on his way to military school, and will be offline here for the next 6 weeks or so. The school requires that all new students must limit outside communications to letters (snail mail) only for the first 6 weeks of school. Consequently, he is prohibited from email and internet communications during this time - including posting here.

Things got a bit hectic for Sandor on his way out of town; but he wants you to know that "He will return" as soon as he is permitted to resume internet activity.

Let's all wish Sandor the best of luck and success in his new school. {sm0}

Hi all, I am getting this one in in my last hour before I am officially "sworn in", so technically it's ok. Things are great here, and everyone is very helpful and kind.
Have to go (hear an officer coming),
Sandor:salute::

Sandor is in touch with me by snail mail from military shcool, and I have agreed to relay his messages to you until he returns to the internet and can do so himself. Right now, Sandor is in the "boot camp" phase of the year, which lasts for the first two months. Many of us can recall those days from our own military training, and so I know you can empathize! Sandor's message follows:

Hi all,
As if from beyond the grave, speaking through PJ, here is Sandor/Napoleon1er. As many of you know, I am suffering through the pure hell that is the first few weeks of military school. When I dream on top of my perfectly made bed, all I can picture are pushups, screaming NCOs, running and fear. I am just waiting for classes to start so there is less P.T. Then, things might get bearable. Every second, my whole body aches (for those who don’t know me, I need to drop a few pounds), and I try not to think of my remaining 48 days until the Pleb system ends and I can see my parents. Please keep me in your thoughts and prayers. To the last: VIVE NAPOLEON!

Sandor

I wish Sandor luck, but what I have seen in person of this young fellows motivation and interest in the Military I suggest he will do quite well (even with the Military "style" haircut his Mom gave him before he went in....but thats a whole nother story)

Sandor...stay tough and put this behind you...........we retirees need to know you eventually will be on guard when we are sleeping

That means he's through with boot camp and on to now being a cadet (vs pond scum :) ). Congrats, Sandor!! Very well done.

Thanks for that information, Sandor. I'm sure you'll be rising rapidly in the ranks as your time there progresses.

Musta been good to get that cow poop (insignia?) off your shoulders! {sm3}

It's actually a pip, much like those used in the UK army, with a small cow poop image in the center. If you are a cow poop 1st class, it is 2 pips.

Are you required to learn all the names and faces in your Chain of Command ?

Congrats Sandor...........nothing better than knowing there will be something soon behind and lower than you. Hopefully you will be around over the holidays so us old guys can coo at your uniform and rub your head.

Ahhha, pips! I musta blocked that memory from my high school days.

I wore them too as a company commander. Then we went to felt overlays on the epilets - which were always twisting and becoming otherwise untidy.

Glad you're back "on the air" Sandor.

Walt, we'll have to have a little get-todether when Sandor comes home. Sandor, wear your name tag, becasue we probably won't recognize you !!! ^&grin
