For those collectors who were around for the 10th Anniversary GOLDEN TICKETS and the LUCKY 13th GOLDEN HORSESHOE TICKETS, the process is exactly the same.

Oh my goodness. This is a great day. John is the best. Not only does he make the best figures and series he constantly gives back and says thanks. Well i want to thank John for being so kind, its really appreciated by us collectors.

I found one of the cards in a box, was a few years ago, but i still remember it as John was very very generous, i received 2 mounted figures from a range i had just started to collect. I sent the card in the post to John and took the liberty of putting in a sheet of paper of which ranges i collected and which figures in that range i already had, did not want to receive anything i already had. I was expecting a single foot figure, but was shocked to receive 2 mounted figures, Almoravids [when the series had only been released a few months].

I was fortunate to find several Golden Tickets 10 years ago. The prizes received were extremely generous. How exciting. And, not one, but several Caption Contests which also include generous gifts. Plus, special 20th Anniversary limited editions. This will be a very good year for JJD collectors.

Yes, John is too kind and very generous!! This is going to be lots of fun!!! Love those caption contests.....

I was fortunate to have found 4 golden tickets and won a caption competition as well as getting one of my photos in a JJD calendar.

Let's see what happens this time around, fingers crossed 🤞

And yes John is very generous 😇

Gary

Hope we are not building a 'rod for John's back', with all these thread posts about him being generous? For translation [as the typed word is not taken the same as the spoken one], this is said/written 'tongue in cheek', jokingly.

This is a better than Charlie and the chocolate factory’s Golden ticket. The race is on to find one. Appreciate it John. Robin.

I'm new to this event and I'm pleasantly surprised... Jenkins is the best, without a doubt!

Great news! Any guesses on the subject for the "special 20th Anniversary Limited Edition Series"?

If I had to guess, which I am, First Anglo Afghan War, as it was the last of the Advent Calendar releases…but the way things are going this year a safe bet would be on something Zulu…

I'm hoping for Albuera.

No, no, it has to be a great Cheyenne or Sioux chief wearing a large, long headdress, each feather symbolizing an act of courage or a blow struck against the enemy.
By the way, a Sioux headdress can fetch up to $25,000 at auction!
Having never produced a Native American of this type figure by John Jenkins, it's clear he had to present us with one!

Furthermore, the Native American theme was such a success that John followed it up with the Cheyenne!
"Dull Knife" or "Morning Star" would be welcome... Two great Cheyenne chiefs of the 19th century!

Of course, as you've probably guessed, all this is written in a spirit of friendly competition, so don't read anything else into it...

CRAZY HORSE !

This would be wonderful. Thomas Gunn are just releasing figures for the second Afghan War.

Was i imagining it, but was there something about John doing
The Last Stand of the 44th Regiment at Gundamuck, based on the picture?

Yes that was 2 or 3 years ago…. I would guess advent 2023

Not advent, 20th Anniversary:

THE 20th ANNIVERSARY SPECIAL LIMITED EDITION SERIES
THE LAST STAND AT GANDAMAK, 13th JANUARY 1842

The Battle of Gandamak on 13th January 1842 was a defeat of British forces by Afghan tribesmen in the 1842 retreat from Kabul of General Elphinstone’s army, during which the last survivors of the force, mainly of the 44th East Essex Regiment, were killed.

The surviving members of the army found themselves surrounded on a snowy hillock near the village of Gandamak. With only about 20 working muskets and two shots per weapon, the troops refused to surrender. A British sergeant is said to have cried out “Not Bloody Likely!” when the Afghans tried to persuade the soldiers to surrender.
After a period of sniping followed by a series of rushes the hillock was overrun by the tribesmen. An officer named Captain Thomas Alexander Souter was mistaken by the Afghans as a high ranking officer because they thought he was wearing a general’s yellow waistcoat. In fact the officer had wrapped the regimental colours of the 44th Foot around his body. He was dragged into captivity along with a sergeant named Fair and seven privates. The remaining troops were killed.
Traces of weapons and equipment from the battle could be seen in the 1970’s and as late as 2010. The bones of the dead still cover the hillside.

THE 20th ANNIVERSARY SPECIAL LIMITED EDITION SERIES

In May 2006, JJD released its first sets under their own name. The set BM-01 was part of a limited edition series of the 44th Regiment of foot at the Battle of Monongahela 1755. To celebrate this 20th year anniversary, JJD will be releasing a Special Limited Edition Series of 250 sets, based on the 44th Regiment of Foot’s Last Stand At Gandamak, 13th January 1842.
These sets will be released throughout this twentieth year, with the final set being released in May 2027.

THE FIRST SET, COMMEMORATING THE LATE Bt. Capt. Thomas Collins, WILL BE AVAILABLE IN JUNE.
Each set will include a traditional JJD Limited Edition numbered Certificate, … and a small bag of Woodland Scenic Snow to sprinkle over the base.
