Brad

Thanks - It looks great. I will make a point to order some for the collection.

No hard feelings on past postings :)

Handbags or no handbags, if the All Blacks were doing the haka in front of me, I'd be afraid. Very afraid.

very true when its the big fellas doing it,but when its skinny white blokes
its about as fearsome as morris dancers :D

Do you think that K&C UK will come out with Foot Soldiers in the Crimean War?

This is the best thread for ages......LOL:D

In the blue corner we have Ron and Brad not talking polotics, I might not have spelt it right but am past caring, BTW you still haven't destroyed my feeble points....

In the red corner we have the crimea, fantastic uniforms, does anything else matter?

But we all know that the ONLY thing to discuss is the All Blacks and their handbags,,,,,,talk about LOL:D Vandilay, I say this as a true mate - don't ever extract urine from Morris Dancers, it is just not safe..... :D

All right Kevin, what are your "tee hee, tee hee" feeble points? All I remember is you saying that Maggie thought she won the Cold War, maybe she thought she did that when she picked on the poor Argentinians on their Malvinas islands. I guess that will get some British blood racing now:D

Brad,

Your a brave man. I'd rather tackle the All Blacks than Maggie. And remember, her handbag is lead filled :D.

She may be drawing her pension, but she is a force to be reckoned with. Especially when she can call on regiments of morris dancers.

Just as a slight aside (no change there then), I've just started reading 'Vulcan 607', which covers some of the events in the FALKLANDS ;).

It's real 'boys own' stuff and from what I've read so far is well worth a read.

Simon

Simon,

Wrote "Malvinas" to see if I could get a rise out of Kevin. Guess it didn't work :(

You will have to do better than that. "You say Malvinas, we say Falklands, lets call the whole thing off", as the song goes.:)

Why fight over a rock full of sheep 2000 miles off the end of the world and covered in ice much of the time (well S Georgia is)? (I have every sympathy for the Argentine position by the way, OK Ana, but.......)

Anyone who doesn't know the answer does not understand the British. :D Still its clearer than invading Iraq.....ooops there I go again....

Simon, Sandy Woodward's book is also very good if you haven't read it.

BTW thanks for the back up on the Morris Dancers, and they really are a tough lot, no messing around.

Now there's a new line for Andy - the Kings Own Morris Dancers......what a scary thought - maybe we could pitch their massed formations against the Queens Own Handbag Swinging All Blacks..... But, on second thoughts, would they run away at the start, one look at those little bells.....in formation....:D LOL :)

Brad

In an effort to get back to Toy Soldiers - how about we start another poll on what should be the next Limited Editions? Since we all know you WW II Fanatics want another 88 mm - we all go that - let focus on other periods and ranges.

This could be a great international experience and we will not try to "slight" anyone :D

What do you say - Mr. Moderator? Pick Seven Worthy figure items??

My recollection of these events (it's been 25 years) that the British were going to abandon at that time anyway before the military dicatators in Argentina decided they needed to do something to shore up their sagging regime.

I remember last year Andy suggesting in a light hearted moment that he make British troops and that Ana make the Argentine troops for the battle. Not sure that was received too well.

I would like to see Napoleon's carriage as a limited edition vehicle. Some collector figure suggestions:

Manfred von Richtofen - WWI
George Custer - Big Horn
Stephen Maturin - Literary from Patrick O'Brian novels
Any of Napoleon's Marshals
Teddy Roosevelt - Rough Rider
Ronald Reagan - cold war victor
Douglas MacArthur - Korea
Italo Balbo - Italian aviator Africa (pre WWII)
Otto Bismarck - Franco-Prussian War
Marie Walewska - Napoleonic - better looking than Josephine
Charlemagne

, it is just not safe..... :D

Now re the morris dancers
If ever a sentence needed Elaborating that has got to be it,
Perhaps a large man smacking them over the head with a handbag
would work:eek:

LOL :D We better stop this in case Ron or Brad get upset......Andy, if you are there, what do you think? Would massed formations of Morris dancers do it - somehow I think not, pushing the envelope too far perhaps - but it is a wicked thought. :) Perhaps we could turn handbag fighting into the next form of warfare  - politicians only...... Vandilay, if you ever come to mock the old country please give me a call.......Meanwhile, won't the Crimean soldiers look nice in their splendid uniforms?

Great LIST !

Although be careful - you could be called POLITICAL :p

Some of those are excellant and some a little obscure(only in soldier collecting you understand). How about some other famous officers/personalities of all sides from WW1/WW2.The Kaiser/Lloyd George/Mark Clark.I wouldn't mind some VC winners either. There was one chap name of Robert Cain who won a VC at Arnhem for continous outstanding bravery over a couple of days.(the wikipedia description of his actions is incredible). And a figure of him would fit really nicely into the forthcoming paras.
