NFL Draft (1 Viewer)

Niner fans are upset with the teams' first round pick, offensive lineman Mike McGlinchey. In my opinion it is a great pick and he could be the cornerstone of the o-line for many years.

In this day and age QB protection is almost as important as who your quarterback is. All one has to do is look at the Colts and Andrew Luck for evidence of that.

if Courtland Sutton is still around when they get their second pick...
I hope they take him...

Sutton was just taken with the 40th pick in round 2 by Denver...
I really wanted him...
so...
sticking with wide receivers...
I am hoping for...
Christian Kirk...
wide receiver from Texas A&M...
he can also double as a return man with 3 TD returns for A&M...

crapola...
Arizona just took Kirk with the 47th pick...
didn't guess any deeper than that...
I give up...
I hope it's a tight end or receiver...

Then Philly traded up to move one position in front of Dallas and sure enough, they took a tight end.

Dallas finally got a wide receiver...
Michael Gallup...Colorado St....
he looks good...
better than average speed and has accolades for the way he executes routes...
sounds like a possession receiver instead of a deep threat...
time will tell...

I'm surprised they didn't trade up some...
Dallas had 4 compensatory drafts from exodus of players in 2017...
10 over all picks this year...

I know they were 4-5-6 rounders...
but they should of been worth something in a draft swap for position...

Mike,
what do you think of the Steelers draft so far? I know the receiver is big 12 so he got a lot of action, but surprised we picked a QB.

Tom

Tom, I obviously don’t follow the Steelers like you, but from an outsider the qb pick seemed to make sense. Ben isn’t a spring chicken and threatens to retire every year.

Ted...
hehehe...

just kidding Tom....
I know you're testing me on your name...

I have really been concentrating on the NFC East...
and that's a lot of work in itself...
I'm not sure what Pittsburgh's needs were...
but I did look at VT's Terrell Edmunds stats...combine and video highlights...

he has a nose for the ball...6 INT's in 3 years...
and hits really hard...
and has better than average speed...
he looked effective when they called him on blitzes...
I read an article that Kifer had him at the 8th best safety in the draft...
and that Steeler fans were a kind of baffled at that pick...
but again...
I watched his highlight videos...
and I liked him...
who knows...
he might be the next Polamalu...

Dallas needs to draft a RB with McFadden and Morris gone...
they need a back up for Elliott's back up...Rod Smith...
I think they will draft either Nyheim Hines or Ito Smith...
I prefer Hines...

hahaha...

I have no idea what I'm doing...
I pick offense...
they draft defense...
I pick defense...
they draft offense...
I quit...
no more prognosticating for me...

DE...Dorance Armstrong...with their 4th pick...

I thought last year we had a defensive pass rush that was really coming together...
Lawrence...Irving...Charlton...
with the possibility of Gregory returning this year...

Armstrong is an awesome pass rusher...
he will help in rotation...
with Vander Esch and him added to the defense...
I expect big things...

now they need a some secondary picks and a running back pick...

but I'm not guessing anymore...
I suck at this...^&grin

Mike:

I think you do know what you are doing. Jerry Jones is the one who has no business running a draft.

The 49ers draft picks have gotten mixed reviews and in the later rounds they drafted a couple of injured players, which earned SF some negative comments.

Brad:

The first two picks were great, the rest were average at best. I have never liked picking injured players, especially ones that involve torn ACLs.

It’s really quite hilarious. Immediately following the draft, media types issue draft grades on every team before a single draftee has attended a single practice, much less played in a game.

It’s way too early for that kind of assessment. And really the only measuring stick that counts is the W L record 1 to 3 years out.
