NFL Season 2016-17 (2 Viewers)

With the exception of their opening night win over Dallas, and a home loss to the Washington Redskins, the Giants have won the games they were expected to win this season, and lost the games they were expected to lose. Now comes the meat of their schedule. The Giants play at the Redskins (presently holding the second wildcard), at the Steelers (presently tied for their Division lead), at the Eagles (a fierce Division rival), Detroit (presently leading their Division) and Dallas (who has the best record in the league). I don't think the Giants will be favored to win any of these games, and they need to win at least two to make the post season. Now we will see what this Giants team is really made of.

I think they'll beat the Eagles, as it stands now. After last night's performance, I think the Eagles will have to set their sights at finishing at .500.

Prost!

I watched that game too...Rodgers has such a quick release...the pass rush against him is largely ineffective...wouldn't count them out at all...all you have to do is make the playoffs and anything can happen...

Yeah, the Iggles really gave him too much time. You can't do that with Rodgers, even with the lousy season the Packers have had.

Prost!

I wouldn't be so sure about that. The Eagles play the Giants pretty tough. No matter what their records might be, you know it's going to be an interesting game, equivalent to Yankees Red Sox or Giants Dodgers.

Oh, I know it! It'll set the tone for the holidays around here, for sure. And for the first time in years, since the NCAA added all the minor bowls and moved everything around, football on New Year's Day is going to be very exciting.

the schedule makers have put out a dramatic schedule of inner division games in the NFC East to close the season...probably pleased with themselves for projected TV ratings...Philly...NYG...Washington and Dallas all play each other the last month of the regular season...division winners and wild cards will probable be decided on the last game of the season...

Yes, the NFC East teams each have 3 of their last 4 regular season games against each other, culminating in the Giants vs the Redskins on the final week of the Season, which may decide one or both of the wildcard spots. In a season like this, where anyone who makes the dance has a shot, the scheduling got it right, high drama down the stretch!

Yesterday on Boston sports talk radio, the afternoon drive show were polling the listeners and asking if the Patriots get to the playoffs (sorry, I never, ever count my chickens until they've hatched), what is your nightmare scenario?

BY FAR the winner was playing the Giants in the Super Bowl.

It's funny though as they are on the four year plan (2007, 2011, 2016?)....................maybe skipping a year is a leap year sort of scenario.

Why do I have this sinking feeling that's what's going to happen....................then you and I can have a friendly wager there Louis; if the Patriots win, I won't come to your house and smash your collection into 10,000 pieces with a baseball bat.......:wink2:.......but if they lose........................

the only thing wrong with your bet...is that Louis probably has 10,000 individual pieces...so you will need to break them into 100,000 pieces...

I'm counting on the Cowboys to avoid this scenario should the Patriots advance to the SB...............if it's Dallas/New England, whoever wins, I'll be happy.

Well, naturally I'd prefer to see New England win, but I can live with Dallas winning as they are my NFC team.................as great as those Dallas teams of the 70's were, the 90's version was supremely talented. Glad they are now back in the mix....................

George...

if Dallas makes the playoffs...they will exceed any of the wildest post Romo injury expectations...of even the most devout Cowboy fan...they have already exceeded mine...

if they beat the Minnesota Vikings on Thursday, but then a loss or tie by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers or a loss by the Washington Redskins will secure the Cowboys a playoff spot...you know I didn't expect anything like that possible in week 13 with 4 games left after that......

still...I just can't sincerely get behind the idea that their defense is gonna allow them to go far if they do clinch a spot...

George, to quote Mel Brooks' History of the World, "you are nuts! N-V-T-S, nuts!"{sm4}

Mike,
Right there with you and much like Dallas, the Patriots will go as far as their offense carries them, but you know the old saying offense wins games, defense wins championships.

Look no further than the 2007 Patriots, who had an historic, record smashing offense and lost the Super Bowl to the 10-6 Giants; why? Because the Giants put a **** ton of pressure on Brady, sacking him, hurrying him, threw the whole offense off, they crapped the bed and the 10-6 wild card New York Football Giants won the super bowl.

As my favorite Giants fan Louis will tell you, all of these teams are flawed thanks to the salary cap, you cannot be loaded on both sides of the ball anymore, so you have to pick and choose and try to hide your weaknesses as much as possible.

Don't forget the helmet catch!^&grin

George, I'm surprised that with your shrewd business sense, you don't rather make the bet instead that Louis buys all your current on-hand stock. ;)

Dallas at Minnesota tonight...

Minnesota has the second best defense in the league between Seattle and Baltimore...

kind of a must win game for Minnesota to stay in the hunt...

ESPN's Football Power Index has Minnesota at a 62.3% favorite to win the game...

Las Vegas has Dallas - 2 1/2...

should be a good game...

Bradford with 12 TD's and only 3 interceptions...has a high quarterback rating...

they have only lost at home once this year...and with Minnesota's defense...which is very good against the pass...this will probably be the game that breaks the Cowboy's winning streak...

not seeing it Mike, the way the Cowboys beat the Steelers, Ravens, Redskins I see this as a Cowboy win, they played shootouts with Steelers/Redskins also wore out the Ravens defense by the 4th quarter and
won all 3, I see something like a 24-20 Cowboy win tonite.

Sammy...hope you're right...will hate when this crazy streak ends...should be a good game either way...

I'm with Sammy Mike. Just don't see the Vikings winning. At least we have a good game on Thursday night.
