Martyn,

Brian

Martyn,

Thanks for taking these, it looks superb. Just how many pennies do we need to save?

Jeff

Thanks for the photos!

Anyone know which boat this is, its name?

Donnie

WOW they did a nice job on that...who sculpted it...do you know...

Thought you might like it Brian and Michael:D

It is a beautiful piece, I'm not sure who sculpted it but as it is around 24-30 inches long and will fit in one of my display cabinet I have one on order;)

The RRP should be around the £800-£1000 mark and will come with two figures to man the wheel house, there will be additional figures to purchase as they are released

Cheers

Martyn:)

Wow, that's awesome. It looks like a lot of different companies are coming out with these types of boats.

How do you think it compares to a LL one Martyn?

Thanks Jeff and Donnie.

I'm not sure of the name, but it does have a close resemblance to the "Bordein", the name will be confirmed when the set is released.

Sorry you couldn't make it Jeff, there were a lot of people missing including a few dealers

Cheers

Hi Brad, they are both great boats and I would have them both in a heart beat but I have to pick Britains because of the size, it will fit in the space I have available. The other reason would be it has that lived in look and I already have a very clean paddle Steamer:D

Believe it or not Jeff the only snow on the road to the Show was within 1/4 mile of my house, after that, nothing, all major routes where clear of snow and ice

Thank you very much for taking all of these great photos of a fabulous looking gun boat Martyn. Although I keep trying to discipline myself to just ACW, this particular model may have to be added to my collection. I wonder what this would look like steaming up the Potomac River manned by a crew of stalwart Confederates? ;)
:) Mike

Martyn, thank you so much for posting these photos.
Well I hope I am not annoying everybody with my usual critique...:D
This gun boat is realistically looking and I bet that the sculptor watched at least a part of "Khartoum" movie... The wooden shields are done correctly...
However it's way too short, the smokestack is to short as well , the captain booth is not correct etc. The price is also quite steep...
I think I will be better off building my own "anatomically correct" gun boat next year starting February...( I realized that it's not an option for everybody :)

It would look great Mike, mine may take a trip up the Thukela;)

Last night at the Britains event I had a nice long chat with the sculptor, Allan Colclough (he did the Rorke's Drift storehouse, the Durbar building, and the Civil war farmhouse). It's a fabulous piece! The rust on it looks perfect.

Amazingly, the model is made mainly of foam. It doesn't weigh all that much. They are still working out some production details before we see a finished product.

Glad to see that you got to the show Martyn without a problem an along with those who commented on the Nile Gun Boat thanks for the photos of it an sharing them with us. By any chance were they any new Zulu war figures being featured?
