Thanks Harry but unfortunately I can't claim to have made it, only put all the vehicles, figures and accessories on the dio and then take a bunch of pic's. The dio was made by Jakob at www.toysoldiers.dk and it's a work of art in my opinion.

Thanks fellas and the reason why I put the machine gun crew there is I thought I saw in the mini series "Generation War" (this series inspired Andy to make the German medical figures and vehicles) an armed detachment of soldiers protecting the German Medical Unit. Perhaps I am wrong or the makers of that series was wrong but I would have thought the Germans would have some protection for there forward medical units operating close to the front line.

I can see your reasoning. I never saw the mini series you mentioned but i have collected and studied WWII for the best part of 45 years and i have on many occasians seen original photographs where a sign is displayed in a forward aid station/medical bunker stating that weapons were STRENG VERBOTEN..!! strongly forbidden. End of the day it"s your dio and your choice....just enjoy the hobby!!!.

Neil, yes you are correct, Jakob's dio pic you posted inspired me to commission him to build a similar one for me. The buildings and setting in my opinion was just perfect to set up a medical field hospital.

Tom I like the darker grey roof you gone for on your diorama and like you have a mg nest in medic diorama :wink2:^&cool

Fair enough Steve and I'm aware that weapons were generally not allowed near medical field hospitals, especially heavy weapons like AT Guns, heavy cannons etc and that's why I was conscious in not putting those weapons into my diorama. Lights weapons like the MG42 I depicted probably weren't allowed either, but in the dark days of war and especially with the enemy so close I think it's possible that the Germans on occasion employed a detachment of armed troops to protect their forward operating units. This was probably more common on the Russian front as shown in the mini series if I'm not mistaken.

Thanks Neil. I was originally going to get the dio with the red roof tiles (an exact reproduction of the original) but Jakob ran out of the red roof tiles so he asked if I wouldn't mind grey. It didn't bother me and they look great on the buildings.

Great job Tom mate, lots of detail and those buildings look fantastic. I do like all the non action figures and vehicles such as the grey Ambo truck and half-track too. The MG crew is a nice touch.^&grin
