Has anybody ever purchased one of these and if so how do you like them...

it makes the grass stand up so pretty...watch the video...

they are intended for a smaller scale than 54mm...mostly for railroad modeling with 2mm grass...but the are now producing a 6.5 mm (about 1/4") grass that should work very well in larger scale dioramas...

here is the video using the static grass...it's very nice and looks simple...

here are the distributors of the Noch Grass Master...

I have been talking to a guy named Scott "Scooter" Jordan that makes a version that is much cheaper than the Noch and he says it's much more powerful...I'm buying one from him...here is one on Ebay...

if anybody has used one...will you talk to me about it...

Looks a remarkable bit of kit. Thanks for posting the link
Mitch

$170 for that.:eek:I think I'll do it the old fashion way.

hehehe...Mark...Scooters is $95.00...but the benefit of using the static current...is that the grass stands up straight...watch the video...you can't duplicate that by hand I don't believe...

I did watch the videos Mike.It must work as when I saw the price it made my hair stand straight up.:D

I have one Mike. They work well, but it is tricky. As a side note, the grass usually looks better if you repaint it after it has been glued to your model and has dried for a day or so. I use an airbrush and ten highlight it with a paintbrush.

Also keep in mind that the grass will collapse under the weight of your metal figures and will never stand up again. These are really meant for Military and railroad dioramas, not toy soldier displays like most of us here build.

Hope this helps a bit,
Ken

Ken...yes...that helps a lot...thank you...I should have called you for your opinion and input before I posted this...I'm sure you have tried every product on the market...

I wasn't necessarily trying to duplicate or even hope to do something as nice as you do to your mats...well...in my wildest dreams maybe...hahaha...but at 6mm's...it's only 1/4" long...I just thought I could get some good grass effects in a field or on a hill...

I just really like to build things and was hoping this might enhance the terrain a bit more realistic...

I showed Scooter some pictures of the mat I bought from you...even snipped him a few samples...he was very impressed...thanks again for the input...

now I gotta buy an airbrush...hahaha...

Mike,Did you ever get one of these and if you did how did it work?

Hi Ken,
Who do you make YOUR grass? I have always been curious....

I tried the electric fly swatter do it your self version. Not to impressed but I didn't take out the capacitor which is supposed to make it better. I will try that when it gets warmer and see if it works better.

I gave up on trying to make static grass (through DIY videos) after seeing the time-cost factor!!

The "Scooter Stick"...which I mentioned earlier...for $70...works very nicely...it's also very sturdy and well built...
