I had a long talk with Tom regarding the Paras, he will address any problems in Future releases.

These are Normandy:

The M42 uniform color is correct, the M43 Dark Green with some changes was introduced at Market Garden.

A Osprey reference boook I have shows the First Aid pack on the helmet, but I cant find a pic of either the 101st or the 82nd with them on D-Day. I am sure there was an exception or two. Everyone seemed to wear the First Aid Kit on their helmet at Market Garden.

The M3 Grease gun I don't believe was at Normandy either.

The 101st did not wear the flag on their sleeve at Normandy. Both the 101st and the 82nd wore an arm band flag at Market Garden

The boots were laced at Normandy, and the buckle top boot was introduced at Market Garden, but some troopers stiill wore the all laced boots.
 
Thanks for the info, saved me alot of time thumbing through old books to get an answer on this one. Regardless if they were Normandy or MG Paras I'm happy with just that fact that American Paras are finally here:D

Me too......................But I am researching for Tom and I will see to it that future releases are correct as possible. I am friends with "Wild Bill" from Band of Brothers. I have not spoken to him in quite a while. Maybe I will give him a call and pick his brain.

Modern American / British Army please. We could even have mini Tom Gunn NBC Instructor wannabes. :tongue:
 
Id like to see

Modern American/British Army
Japanese Theatre troops
and some Russians.

I know there are alot around at the minute, but id like to see Tom's take on The Roman era!

Also although id never be able to afford one, id like to see a Chinook helicopter, or an apache.

Really looking forward to the Naps and other suprizes Tom has for us.

Some person to have as a friend!!!!! I have been reading all the when this stuff was used and when it was not, arnhem or normandy. TG from what I have read does not specifically state these troops are for this theatre. can they then just be used for whatever theatre the collector chooses??

Firebat. I have hundreds of authentic WWII para pics from both the 101 and 82 airborne during the Normandy campaign.You can not spot a bandage pouch on a helmet .
D-day paras simply did not have the supplementary bandage pouch on their helmet. It was first seen during operation MG and was a result of the lessons learned during the Normandy campaign to have more readily available bandage.
The 82nd NEVER WORE 1st aid kits on their helmets !!!! ( common mistake ,also in the movie " The longest day")
During MG, the 501st and 502nd/101 Div. used this method. Afterwards there was an overall interdiction to wear 1st aid kits on the helmet during the BoB. because it became a clear aiming spot for German snipers to deliver a bull's eye shot in the forehead of a soldier.

I also love it when guys use B/W photos and are connoisseurs of shade and pattern of fabrics. Let's not be anal about authenticity, these are toy soldiers!

Depending on who you get your info from, many 82nd troops turned in their M1942 parachute uniforms upon return from Normandy as part of refitting for the next operation, and were issued the M1943 pattern, which most know was a darker shade of olive green. The notable exception to this was the 504th PIR that had stayed behind in Italy when the Division went to England. Select members of the 504th trained as Pathfinders and made the Normandy drop, but the majority of the 504th refitted in England during Overlord. When MG happened, many of them were still wearing M1942 pattern uniforms either because they had been reissued them upon return from Italy, or because they were replacements newly arrived from training bases like Toccoa, Benning, Bragg, and Mackall. Jump boots, from my research were lacking in standards...by MG, certainly as the Bulge began, boots were issued as they arrived, and given the choice of having no boots or the two-buckle, standard infantry variety, even the saltiest veteran paratrooper wouldn't go barefoot, while his squad mate fresh from the states could be wearing a relatively new set of Corcoran jump boots.

We're all friends here, I think. I'd just like to say well done, Tom. Can't wait to see more!
