I posted a thread annoucing this year's New York Toy Soldier Symposium on the "Shows and Show Reports" Forum. Lawrence Lo, Hans Hedrich, Mark Hoffman and myself will be this years sponsors, and are honored to extend you an invitation. Please check the thread on the "Shows and Show Reports" Forum for details.

This year's keynote speaker will be Rick Wang from Figarti, and we are very close to confirming a second industry leader as a special guest. We already have 20 confirmed attendees, so please PM your intent to join us soon before the 45-50 slots fill up.

Hans, Larry, Mark Hoffman and I are absolutely thrilled to annouce that our "surprise guest" for this years symposium has confirmed that he is coming (and may be cooking a really unique and special demonstration for attendees of the symposium). The special guest is . . . wait for it! . . .

John Jenkins of John Jenkins Designs!!:D:cool:

John Jenkins has suggested that he do a figure sculpting demonstration at the Symposium . . . what do the attendees think?

I have always enjoyed watching the actual sculpting process at Frontline and Figarti, so I would like to see a demonstration.

Sure - it would be great !

But, we will have some questions for Mr. Jenkins - and we have ways to get answers.......

Co-Sponsor Mark Hoffman and Jim Hillestad of the Toy Soldier Museum in the Pocanos, Pennsylvania, have cooked up an idea for another big event on Sunday.

For those of you not familiar with Jim's Museum, he has an entire two story house filled with at least 25,000 metal toy soldiers by virtually every maker, in virtually every style, along with the best private collection of military memorabelia it has ever been my good fortune to see in person. Jim has offered to host an open house at his museum Sunday afternoon.

Mark has offered to (at his expense) charter a luxury coach 49 man bus, change lunch at his collection to brunch, and bus us all down to Jim's for an open house, then back to New York by Sunday afternoon in time for our traditional farewell meal at the Wollenski Grill.

Those of you who have RSVP'd, please post whether or not you would like to go on this excursion ASAP, so we can allow Mark and Jim to make the arrangements.

Oh Boy - A Field Trip :D

Count me in !!

I think it's a terrific idea but I won't be able to go. As I'll be gone part of Friday and all of Saturday, I think I'd be pushing it with my family if I was gone any part of Sunday.

Hey Louis-

thanks for the open invite to all of us here on the forum. Manhattan is a bit out of my price range but I bet all of you guys will have a grand time.

Also, I don't know if NYC is ready for Caesar to make his triumphant victory lap through Central Park :D:D

Chris,

Can you get to the Toy Soldier Museum in the Pocanos (in your home state of Pennsylvania) on Sunday March 9th? You can meet us all there if the bus trip gets approved by everyone.

Hey Brad,

How the heck did we put together nine of those Bombay Company cabinets for last year's Symposium? I took me forever today to build the tenth one so I could have a second cabinet dedicated to Figarti stuff (what with the E-Boat coming, I needed the extra cabinet space).

Guys,

We need those coming to give us a heads up on the Sunday event - so far exactly 4 (thanks Brad, Ron, Tom and Steven) attendees have responded about the field trip. Please let me know what the rest of you think, so Mark and Jim Hillestad can make the arrangements.

Hey Louis are you going to do the live tv broadcast you did last year?
I believe Brian set it up, is he coming?
I sure enjoyed it.
Gary

Brian can't make it this year (for 2 really happy reasons I will let him disclose). However, Bob plans on filming everything for K&CUK TV, so there will be video. If he or somebody else wants to do a live webcast I am all for it. Anybody who is coming and has the capability, just let me know, and I will happily assist in the arrangements.
