​ Dear All Well, 2024 is slipping by and there is already plenty of Christmas stuff in the shops believe it or not, Christmas seems to come earlier every year! As some of you will know the Thomas Gunn team have had a few weeks of switching and changing various month’s releases, planning for the medium/long term and moving warehouses. We have also been developing and finalizing new AFVs/ranges, plus some interesting additions to our established ranges. Due to shipping issues the long awaited first of our WW2 AFVs, the Marder 2, will be released in early November 2024. Having seen the completed Self-Propelled Gun, we think this is a classic for any WW2 German military AFV collector. We hope you will appreciate this month’s releases, figures spanning the depth of time, from the ancient world, the growth of an Empire, the Second World War to post WW2.

Described as a wooden storage chest decorated in solid gold, with an ornamental lid. The Ark is said to contain the Tablets of the Law (The 10 Commandments), by which God delivered the Commandments to Moses at Mount Sinai. As well as containing Aaron's Rod and a pot of Manna. Legend maintains that the Ark disappeared during the Babylonian sacking of Jerusalem in 586 BC. Archaeologists believe there are no reliable records of the Ark's whereabouts after this date. With places such as Ireland, South Africa, Rome, Ethiopia, and even an American military warehouse being claimed where the Ark can be found. ​ The Romans

​ ROM173C Signifer of the Praetorian Guard The standard bearer (signifer) carrying the centurial standard. The signifer carried the signum, a spear shaft decorated with medallions and often topped with an open hand. The open hand symbolized the oath of loyalty taken by the soldiers. The signifer was also responsible for the financial administration of the unit, including the pay and savings of those in the unit, and was paid twice the basic wage of a regular soldier. ​ German WW2 AFV Crew The first four of our range of six German WW2 SP Gun crews have the flexibility to go with our new Marder and/or other German armour you may have in your collection. As a side note the new Marder is on its way to the frontlines, on a ship heading towards Thomas Gunn HQ, due in early November 2024. To spread your budget, we thought we would release these new crew figures a little earlier than the Marder.

​ SS110B SS Tankers Loading Alfie The War Dog. Alfie the War Dog, used to be Alfie the Lover, but after a visit to the vet, he no longer has the equipment to live up to that name. He then enlisted in the army and provided sterling service during his military career! These crew figures are significantly different from the original releases, both have camo trousers and the crew member waiting to pick up Alfie has a green 'Tank Top' on, one which we are sure was not an official issue. What a great collection this month. Tank loaders look great and appreciate another Egyptian Guard to add to the mix. The Arc is a fun one for ancient scenes as well as Afrikakorps. I like the French Resistance set which will pair nicely with last month's release (as pictured). Can never go wrong with more Praetorians.
