Hey Imperial fans,
Have spotted a few of these on ebay recently (including http://www.ebay.com/itm/IMPERIAL-PR...719279532?pt=Toy_Soldiers&hash=item20c385cdac ) and it got me to wondering... how many of our collectors here have any of these.

Post up if you have any sets from Imperial's ill-fated Officers and Men series.

Recently, a male halves of the "sweetheart" sets (OM4 & OM5), without their dates and sans boxes, sold on ebay for $100.

WoW!

Cheers,
Drum

Hi Dave,

Actually, I believe that you have the set x4 Sweetheart couple with Naval Officer box with the set x5 Sweetheart couple with Marine Officer figures.

Well guys (& gals)
Here's some news you weren't expecting....had a phone call from David Cowe this afternoon and he has asked me to try and gauge what interest there is "out there" if he was to produce a new Imperial set. I have to admit to using whatever skills I have to try and convince him that it's a "no-brainer" but here is the background.
Amongst the Officers and Men sets originally prepped for a certain USA Naval Museum, one set that was never produced was a WWII USA Marine Corps colour party in South Pacific dress - now, I have seen the moulds and also the trial "bucks" and they are quite superb as you would expect from David - the flag detail is outstanding! So we're talking basic khaki and green uniforms, contrasting parade-ground webbing and of course the properly coloured flags. I was not permitted to photograph at the time as the figures were not complete but seems he just happens to have found a painted set under the bed! :) Please, please DON"T contact him to try and purchase this from him at this stage as we try and work this through.
There are a few points straight off - they would be an "orphan" set being, apart from the New Zealand series, the most recent time-wise Imperials produce and there would be no more (probably) to compliment them. Having said that, they would be totally unique and would not take long to appreciate value-wise, not that one would let them go anyway! He hasn't settled on the composition of the set but logically would include 2x flag-bearers, 2x escorts and possibly an officer.
So here are the questions:
1) Are you interested?
2) Limited edition i.e. 100 sets max for e.g. @ higher price; or
3) General sales at a lower price than (2) but possibly slightly higher than current - Imperial Productions has maintained their current prices for some years and have not kept up with inflation at all!
4) Shop sales only; international trading site only; or combination thereof.
5) Any input you'd like me to pass on...

Looking forward to your response(s) - please alert any other collectors you are in contact with to the thread so I can give David the best feedback possible and hoping for an overwhelmingly positive response so we can encourage David and if this proves successful....
Regards
ACE
(ps: where did Drum go???????????)

I would buy it in a heartbeat. I am in the USA and would be very interested in this set. Count me in, but definitely has to be available Internationally. Don't really care about the limited edition as long as i get one!!

ACE,

Please count me in as well. The first set I purchased was the carrier deck crew which is shown with K&C Corsair, as well as figures from other makers.

Would LOVE to see new Imperial sets - But not a one off WWII set. He should continue adding to their wonderful Napoleonic line, otherwise, not interested.

Yes, I would be very interested. Happy if they were an X-5 or whatever even if the box were different.
I wouldnt queue overnight with a sleeping bag to buy an iphone but I would to buy that set.

Hi guys,
When Mr, Cowe mentioned these to me, I told him that whatever he made would sell out, especially at the relatively cheap rate by which he prices his time. I also suggested that if he really doubted that the interest in such a set would be sufficient that he should offer to take "pre-orders". If that did not convince him of the existence of a market for his work, then nothing will.

Anyway, NZ'ers are FAR too polite to ever take money in advance for such a thing, so... THAT wont happen.

It is high time that this master artist begin sculpting once again. If you slow pokes would just catch up on fleaBay and stop ordering old sets from the Cowes, then maybe that might happen!

Glad to know David is at it again. My strong personal preference is for more nap sets, which I have told him before. Give him my best. Dan Kelly

I spoke to Kay this week. Some of you may not know but the Cowes closed their shop for a few months to catch up on back-orders and to have a break. I asked if David was going to produce any new military scupltures. She said collectors had been nagging him, but they think that closing for 2 or 3 months each year will be their plan, which will give David time to work on new figures. So ... fingers crossed. Good news that they plan to continue for a while, and great news that we may see some more magic from Greytown.

Mark
