Officer's Mess by John Firth (1 Viewer)

Hi Guys

I usually dont reply to the stuff I make Konrad, but let him do that. But in this occasion, I have to say a big thank you, to all of you for your kind comments, especially the one from Louis:smile2:. I am really pleased you all like it, I really enjoyed making and seeing this one come together.

Kindest Regards John

I am thrilled beyond measure that John PM'd me and offered to do an airwar scene for me. :smile2: I already pm'd him back my acceptance of his very kind offer, and I am looking forward to hearing his response to my suggestion for a theme (as you can probably guess, it of course involves a particular RAF Squadron during the Battle of Britain).:wink2:

Konrad...that is a beautiful piece to own...it's so nice that everything is removeable as it allows you to buy more furniture accessories to alter the room's furnishing...lots of options...

I have seen wood pianos done in in 1/2 doll house scale that should be pretty darn close in size...also lots of wood furniture similar to your pieces...

here are some links...be sure to order 1/2" scale...it's suitable for 2 1/2" to 3" figures...

Louis...I'm sure yours will be a beauty too...

Some interesting and nice stuff there, Michael.
All the accessories in this Officer's Mess scene are metal castings though, from the retired Phoenix Models line, and are handpainted by John.

Might check out some pieces from your links for different scenarios I have in mind :wink2:

That's very good news, Louis, and I am looking forward to seeing what you and John will come up with.
It's going to be great :wink2: :smile2:

Konrad,

Congratulations on a simply superb scene. You must be absolutley blown away.

John,

As usual, your work is a joy to view.

Cheers
Simon

Not sure where to post this so sorry if it's intruding but does John do British themes only or would he do something in American History.

Hi Brad,
I don't think that John is doing British themes only. It just seems that way by what I am posting from him, since I am focusing on the British Empire with my commissions.
Louis had some pilot figures done by John and seems to currently negotiate another project about WWII airwars with him.
Best would be to contact John by pm with any ideas you're thinking about.

Hi Brad

Any period anywhere in the world, I just love toy soldiers.

Regards John

Congratulations on a fantastic vignette... this should be published! May I suggest you send it to Old Toy Soldier Magazine or another toy soldier publication? You may also want to send it Norman Joplin or James Opie for consideration for one their future books.
Well done again.
cheers,
Hugh

PS: It is exactly this kind of display that I like to show my wife to explain what can be done with toy soldiers! :smile2:

Hello Hugh,
thank you very much for your kind comments about this set :smile2:
Chances are that you will see an article about this vignette later this year in the "Toy Soldier Collector".
Also, if you are interested and have access to this fine Toy Soldier magazine, you can see an article about John Firth and his work for my British Empire collection in the Toy Soldier Collector issue no. 45 from April/May 2012.
Thanks again for you appreciation and Happy Collecting!
Konrad

Hello all fellow collectors.

I am very happy to announce, that this fine diorama is featured in an article of the current "Toy Soldier Collector" magazine, issue 52 June/July 2013.
John's work very, very much deserves the publicity in the Toy Soldier World, that is possible through this fine magazine.

Happy Collecting :smile2:

Konrad

Prost!
Brad

Hi Konrad,

Outstanding!!! Congratulations to both you and John! My compliments for an excellent job!

Warmest personal regards,

Pat :)

As I said when the images on this magnificent vignette were first posted, it is the finest glossy work I've seen in the hobby, and this well written article does it justice. I look forward to receiving my own vignette from John, on my own favorite subject, WWII air war.:wink2:
