Andy, I know you're busy producing many a great set for all your ranges but if you get s chance we drastically need teinforments for the Omaha Beach Assault!^&grin

The 2nd and 5th Rangers were not the only units to assault the beach and so we need some more units in beach assault gear to give further representation to those that gave the ultimate sacrifice.:smile2:

Some 29th Infantry Division Troops would be awesome. In invasion gear with Life belts, Black rubberised gas mask bags and gas brassard. Please no assault vests like the Rangers as contrary to popular belief the assault jackets were quite a rarity. Maybe some officers and NCOs with them but please, please, please not every other rank with one!

I know that the 1st Infantry Division has been a big focus of yours the past few years so even some Big Red 1 figutes in lifebelt and gas mask bags would be ace!

The recent sets of 3 or 4 dead/wounded for the MG and German ranges are great! A set for the US dday range would be also be great! Not even specifically aimed at a certain unit! The figures could be lying in such a way that collectors only see the fronts or backs of the figures with the left arm hidden so as not to show unit patches! Beside these figures collectors could use the Allied weapons set to leave weapons and other items by the bodies!

Some ideas/proposals for BIG RED 1 or 29th Infantry:

A private or corporal pulling a wounded officer along by a pack shoulder strap - pulling the officer out of the water or along the sand to cover. The officer's helmet could be lying as a seperate article off to the side as could his rifle or carbine or Thompson.

A sergeant or other rank with BAR or rifle could be providing cover fire for the duo moving for cover!

Men running and being hit in the shoulders and legs mid run; falling backwards or forwards.

A dead Radioman lying on his side with blood on his front facing the enemy while an officer takes cover behind his body (at back) behind backpack radio and screams into the radio handset.

Half body figures symbolizing men moving through deep water holding weapons just over water or firing up towards bunkers or just wading through the deep water frantically trying to get to shore for cover!

Men running, crawling, taking cover, sitting taking off life belts in cover. Troops missing articles of their equipment; helmets, gas mask bags, life belts (which could come as extras).

Mortar team moving forward. 30. Cal mg team.moving forward.

Medics leaning over bodies trying to keep them covered from the shelling on the beach!

Father Lacy Ranger Chaplain kneeling blessing dead bodies on the beach as he actually did.

Engineer Special Brigade with their distinctive patch on left shoulder and helmets!

Men carrying Bangalore ashore, with packboards full of equipment, demo charges, demolition satchels, wire reels, all running men looking for cover!

Anybody else have any thoughts?

Scott

Hi Scott,
That's about two years of work ...even if we stop producing everything else!!!
I think I'll need a few days just to digest it....
Now, is there anything you might have forgotten..?

Best wishes and happy collecting, Andy.

I already posted a thread about this. Please stay on topic lads and keep up with the times.

Kiwi if you have nothing constructive to say please don't comment.

Scott

No need to get 'uppity' Scott...I also never saw any other thread or post that you mentioned a 'change of mind'...

I'm happy to see you back enjoying the hobby and I hope the Forum...

Also, no need to tell us to 'stay on topic' or 'keep up with the times'...Both the other guy and myself are far more regular contributors over here than your good self.

Best wishes and happy collecting, Andy.

No invasion kit mate.

No invasion kit mate.

How difficult can it be to scratch build this invasion kit based on your picture ?? you can do it in lead foil, in milliput etc....
guy:)[/QUOTE]

If someone had no knowledge of Milliput it would be difficult!

Haha take a chill pill Andy. Remember I'm 24, you're a bit older. Easy to talk tough and have sly digs over the internet but in person it's a often a different story. And if the other guys is a regular contributor here then he should have seen my post.

Also I've been a member here for 12 years and I recon I've posted a lot more than possibly even both of you put together!:wink2:

Scott

Interesting logic you have there Scott, if anyone needs to take a 'chill pill' it's you my friend judging by your rude responses thus far.

For the record no I haven't seen or read any of your recent posts about returning to the hobby, hence my original post.

As for the age thing, yes you have much to learn, but that doesn't excuse your disrespectful comments, especially to the one person you've just requested he design and produce figures for you.

And while I remember, thanks for that last 'colourful' PM you sent me a while back, that was fun.^&grin

Welcome back mate.:wink2:

Hi Scott.
you have some great ideas man!
And some are even on my wish list also. But can't Always Get What You Want mate.
That's when you decided to collect Toy Soldiers, you have to rowing with the paddles you have (A Dutch Saying! )
Otherwise you should go to building in scale 1/35 there you can make how you want it.
Or take a kc figure and rebuild him to your wishes. I've also done it a few times, and it's fun to do.

Hi Scott,
Thanks for the advice...I'll keep it in mind next time we meet.

As for saying something to your face as opposed to over the Internet or here on this Forum...I would not have the slightest problem making the same remarks to you in person as the ones I wrote earlier.

As for the difference in our ages...Well you've got me there...You are certainly younger... there's no doubt about that. One other difference though...and it's a really big one...You've only 'played' at being a soldier with your Re enactment buddies...I actually have been a Marine, and for five whole years!

And as for you 'recon' (sic) that you've posted more than myself and the other guy put together...I think NOT...as most of the guys on here would testify to.

On a more cheerful note to finish up by...You do indeed have some good ideas...and perhaps some of them turn up one day...and I thank you for that BUT as said elsewhere it doesn't improve your chances when you try to be a 'smart-arse' with the guy who actually makes the toy soldiers!!!

Adios for now, Andy.

I was hoping you would.

Glad to be back...for the most part.

Life's short, be nice to Scott. He has so many more years to collect than most of us.

Thanks mate but some people never listen and seem intent on having a go!

And I could collect for 100 years mate it still wouldn't beat your Beach invasion set up!!!^&grin

Don"t make too many appearences on the forum of late and this thread is one of the main reasons Scott has made some darned good suggestions and i have always felt that the Rangers and 29th Inf Div could have been taken much further. What a shame that apparently some members feel the need for notification if someone stops or restarts with collecting toy soldiers and a couple of the comments were nothing short of sarcastic bullying....It"s your choice friend wether to collect or not and wether to "QUOTE..Play at being a soldier" or not. I too was for many years a serious participant in a Living History group 90th Inf Div and we had nothing but respect for the the "real soldiers" and what they did to make Europe a free place....and playing at soldiers or not the vets loved us for keeping the memories of thier sacrifices alive.
So the unfortunate comment...."I was a real soldier"i find very hard to swallow!!...The real soldiers have imo been in combat, faced daily hardships and the very real chance of death or being maimed, and if they get to return home they are often physically and mentally broken....Don"t know if you guys are familiar with the Invictus Programe..?? Those are the guys that may proudly say "l was a real soldier.

Lighten up....This is a Toy Soldier forum!! RESPECT is the keyword.

Steve
