The blacksmith was going to try to get a better deal ... but it is hard to negotiate when there is a 250lb mean looking guy with an ax 5' away

With a new shoe on his horse, a new pile of wood for the blacksmith the officer moves his troops along.

Once again Larry, I enjoyed the whole series of both your posts . . . .
:smile2: Mike

Is `this a rest stop on the Maine Turnpike !!!!!

Kirk

Morning Kirk .... Yea, exactly!
Now that you have traveled the highways and byways of Maine, you know that it really hasn't changed that much in 150 years!!! With many of Maine's roads needing a good "re-do", maybe traveling by horse isn't such a bad alternative.

A BIG thank you to Mike, Michael, Rough Rider, Carlos, Nicholas, Kirk and Carlo for the encouraging words.
Still a lot to learn, to get up to the level of many displays that are shown here daily but that is the .. FUN!

To answer some of the PMs:

* The US soldiers are John Jenkins War of 1812
* The Blacksmith is John Jenkins "Raid on St. Francis"
* The Blacksmith Shop house is JG Miniatures -- C02
* The Blacksmith Shop Forge is JG Miniatures -- C07A
* The Stone walls are JG Miniatures -- C08 (A/B/C/D)
* The Haystack is JG Miniatures -- C16A
* The trees and shrubs are all sorts of JG Miniatures and other RR landscaping plus back yard treasures

** I made the fences along the roads
** I made the table in the forge yard
** I made the Gabions
** I made the wood box
** I made the stacked wood pile and base
** The road is made from Artist Gesso (stole from the wife ) troweled out on some old wood and Acrylic paint, sprinkled with dried tea

Don't think I missed anything!

Larry,

You've done a fine job with these dio's. I like how you did the scenery and how the story of the blacksmith plays out. The work you did on making the table, the fence, etc is amazing too. Thanks for sharing!

A big Thank you Mark. I hope to start making a lot more of my diorama items as I learn off this forum. But the JG items were hard to resist and my skills at making a building are not there yet, :( so .....

Larry, just grinning at the 'The Blacksmith tried to get a better deal' title!
Put a smile on my grumpy face. Thanks

These are superb Larry. Very inspiring. Looking forward to seeing more, thanks for sharing.

With the buildings. I guess sometimes you just have to give things a go, looks like you have the eye for it so I'm sure you'll do just fine.

Thanks for the encouragement UNCAS. I am in the process of my next one and will see what I can do. -- Larry
