Operation Anthropoid (1 Viewer)

Anthropoid is a 2016 UK-French-Czech historical thriller film directed by Sean Ellis, from a screenplay by Ellis and Anthony Frewin. Starring Cillian Murphy (Peaky Blinders), Jamie Dornan (50 Shades), Harry Lloyd, Toby Jones, Charlotte Le Bon, and Bill Milner, it tells the World War II story of Operation Anthropoid, the assassination of Reinhard Heydrich by Czechoslovak exile soldiers on 27 May 1942.

Anthropoid had its world premiere at the Karlovy Vary International Film Festival on 1 July 2016. It will be released in the United States on 12 August 2016.
 
My wife and I saw this film this past weekend. It was excellent. Very good account of the actual events. It was rated R, and could have easily been more violent than what was depicted. I do not want to give it away for those that have not seen it, but this is not an upbeat film. This story has many brave characters, and depicts the Nazis in a very cruel light, as it should. I was disappointed with the ending credits as they did not mention the fate of all the major characters. So if you are not familiar with the story you do not get the complete bleak "picture" of what the outcome was.

I recommend you view this film first, "Conspiracy" ,before viewing "Anthropoid".

'Conspiracy' is an HBO production with outstanding writing and acting. A truly scary movie in terms of personalities. -- Al
 
Just saw this and thought it very well done, though a bit light on cause and effect. Have also seen 2 other movies on the subject, 1943's 'Hangmen Also Die!' and 1975's 'Operation Daybreak'. I haven't seen the other 1943 film on the subject, 'Hitler's Madman'. -- Al

I saw that flick and bought it at a CD Exchange years ago. I watched about a month ago with my kid...she was astonished.

John from Texas...oh and I will check out Katzie's recommendation.
 
Just finished it. I knew the story ahead of time. I thought it was well done

Watched it when flying over to Europe last month, and it's pretty good. Great acting and story.
