No offence, but I would say that you've been extremely lucky not to have incurred customs charges when importing toy soldiers. I was charged £40 when I sent my daughter an MP3 player via DHL for her birthday a couple of years ago. This was 50% of the original price. Guess you must catch Her Majesties Commissars on days when the canteen beans are particularly good.

It could be luck, but I doubt it. I think it's got more to do with the fact that some products DO attract import duty and some DO NOT - depends what it is, and allied to that is the fact that different products attract different rates of duty -
