Hi Mark

Don't have their Napoleonics or Templar figures but I do have all of their ACW guys (as you would expect). Their earlier WWII figures and maybe some of their Naps were 35mm scale which was a little small for most collections. However their Reb and Yank series are a full 56/58mm scale and go extremely well with the rest of the collection. I bought my first set at one of the London shows and on close inspection was mighty impressed with the poses especially the facials and the paint finish right down to fingernails-a top notch professional finish. I immediately ordered the other four sets.

I remember Fish (I think) stating that he was not keen on the bases and there lies the rub as they are very basic roundels or disc shaped painted with a green base color but all I did was sprinkled on some cat litter, sprayed with cement and fine flocked them. Came up great.

To give you an idea the picture attached is a mini dio of the Oryon 3 figure dismounted Reb cavalry set I posted on the dio thread eons ago-you may have missed it or not realise they were Oryon figures and if you look carefully you can see the round bases as supplied-I have flocked the bases as described above since this dio set-up. (NB. Note the fingernails on the extreme right Reb's left hand)
In my book all of their ACW sets are some of the very best from a little known company.

Hi Mark!

I have ordered the Templars at Modelenium in England for almost a month now. They instant tell me that "they will be due next week".

I realy don´t think Oryon has finished the production of them, but i agree - they look great!

The wholesaler in the UK, AB Gee tells me the Oryon Collection of painted 54mm and 1/35th is coming to an end. The gentleman who ran the range has retired and sold the brand name on. AB Gee, who handled the range in the UK, do not know who has bought them, nor whether the range will reappear.

Mike,
Oryon is an Italian company. It was set up by the person who started the Armour Collection 1/48 diecast range of aircraft which was bought by Franklin Mint. After he sold Armour Collection he started Oryon to keep himself occupied. I think the figures only be going for 3-4 years.
He also did some replica WWII badges under Oryon name which were good quality and value.
Their first figures were WWII sets but did not sell well and are often sold at discount to retail. However some of their Historical figures have been quite good.
It might be that problems in China and world economy in general has made it less worthwhile. I would imagine the money he received from Franklin Mint would allow a comfortable retirement.
Regards
Brett

This figures are great indeed, look:

Ray: The Squadron Shop has Oryon figures on sale. This month it is wwll figures but they have civil war, cavalry and Napoleonics. I have ordered some. They come in 1/35 scale for wwll and 1/32 scale on others. Look under search on Squadron's site. List Oryon under military figures. John

Own someone the 1/35° XX2 Oryon figures? On the pics they look with too big hands, like the plastic Unimax figures; impression or reality?

Oryon soldiers go well with Dragon 1/35 armour & when you can buy a set of four figures for £10.00 it can't be bad

I only have the so called 1/32 Oryons and the hands, as well as the rest of them, are about the same as K&C; both are thus oversized. I am not sure if the pattern applies to the 1/35.

I sent an email informing that they were out of business crisis, their new figures 1/32 they looked good.:(:(Another company might buy the molds and release the figures at a future:):)
